Amstar Destination Management

I was very pleased with my Amstar experience. You have to be very realistic with your expectations when you travel internationally, if you are realistic, i’m sure you’ll have a great time.
I’m reviewing specifically Amstar Cancun. After you arrive at the airport, you’ll want to bypass everyone else trying to sell you a deal. Amstar communicates this to you via email. Actually, they email you two-​weeks, one week and the day before your excursion to get you hyped about your vacation and remind of you of what to pack. I like that communication and their tips were in fact very helpful.
The quality of excursions was well above average, a few places were kinda iffy looking but all in all definitely a memorable experience. I was impressed at the level of concern the employees have to ensure you’re satisfied with your trip. If you’re a brute American demanding an American experience, they do their best to accomodate but you have to remember you’re in a different country and are catering to the world, not just ‘Murica. The level of service you receive is excellent and although everything is all-​inclusive, i’d recommend tipping when you experience great service seeing as how even the salaried workers get paid a fraction of what you make, daily.

Review for our Airport Transportation: 3 stars
We waited about 10 minutes for our transportation to arrive at the Airport to take us to Puerto Aventuras. Since we booked a shared van, the driver had to drop off another group en route before heading to our resort. During our trip to the resort, the driver got lost and drove past it, adding an extra 20 minutes to our ride. It took us over 1.5 hour to get from Cancun Airport to Puerto Aventuras. Since we were on vacation mode, we were patient and didn’t mind the additional travel time. On our way back to the airport, we were more satisfied as we left on time with no additional resort pickups. My low rating for Amstar is mainly due to the rude response of one of Amstar representative at our resort.
Review for an Amstar Rep at Dreams Puerto Aventuras: 1 star
We were instructed to speak to one of the rep at Amstar to schedule our ride back to the airport. As planned, we spoke with the rep and scheduled the ride. On the way, we asked the rep some questions about the excursions and packages that Amstar offered. Since we had to return later to confirm the pickup time for the ride back to the airport again, we told the rep we would also tell him if we were interested in one of the excursions later. As we found a better deal and an excursion that he did not mention his company offered, we booked with another vendor. When returning the next day to double check with our airport pickup time, the rep rudely questioned our decisions with the excursions. He outwardly blamed us for not booking with his company and losing his commission. We thought that was incredibly rude of him as we had the right to book with whomever we liked! You do not disrespect and guilt a customer just because we chose not to buy your service! This unprofessionalism definitely would not get our business in the future.

Booked our transportation with Amstar for our recent trip to Mexico. Pick up and delivery went great. Pick up and return were equally good. Staff at our hotel was very helpful as well. Would completely recommend this company.

Their transportation was included in our Apple vacation to Secrets Maroma Beach. They were easy to find once we got to the Cancun airport but there was a huge line backed up. We squished into their van with about 7 other passengers and our hotel was thankfully the first stop. What irritated me was that they give you a paper saying you HAVE to visit their desk at the hotel THAT DAY to confirm your ride home. Our ride home was already confirmed and we were tired after traveling so we didn’t go. Well, we were taking a nap and got a phone call from the Amstar desk saying we had missed our appointment and that we HAD to go the next day. We went, it took 5 minutes and was pointless. The desk girl didn’t tell us anything new, she just tried getting us to do their tours and other things. The ride back to the airport was way better, we were the only people in the van and our driver was super friendly.

great! simple transportation. the gentleman driving was good at hustling on the roads and making sure we got to the airport on time even though there were delays in getting the group together. great!

Excellent service with wonderful people! Not only did they provide round trip transportation from the airport to playa del Carmen. They also helped us book an amazing excursion. But they went above and beyond when Spirit cancelled our flight. The Amstar staff helped us locate a nearby hotel and secure travel arrangements!
