One thing is for sure, service at Los Arcos was the best I’ve ever experienced anywhere. This is all the more remarkable because we had a party of ten. I was impressed by how the servers were able to perfectly time the arrival to the table of the multitude of dishes we ordered. Oh, my AGU family is adamant that you tip no more than 10% in restaurants in Mexico, regardless of quality of the service. More than 10% is considered a faux pas, I guess. My family avers that, though Los Arcos is a chain, they serve the best seafood in Mexico. Los Arcos has dozens of seafood options. You will find some dishes that contain ingredients, say for example«Aurora» sauce, that are specific to Los Arcos, so you will need to ask your server what they are. The restaurant serves complimentary tostadas(in a bottomless basket) that you can eat with a red salsa or tasty sliced grilled onion. Curiously, the grilled onion comes with a white chile pepper that I didn’t see anybody at the table eat. My favorite dish of the night was a delicate little taco made with a jicama tortilla. On the jicama taco were breaded shrimp, chili pepper, onion, tomato and a delicious seasoned crema sauce. I was craving something simple for my entrée(the Scandanavian in me popping up again) so I opted for the crema de langostino(lobster soup). The creamy lobster soup came in a bread bowl(regular bread, not sourdough). The soup, containing chunks of lobster and bits of celery and onion was fabulous! The only off-note was that the bread was overbaked, making it a little tough and also burnt-tasting. Beverage selection was vast with drinks such as agua de coco(coconut water) and jamaica juice. The dessert menu only showed five items, but there are more; at the end of the meal they brought out a dessert tray with more stuff. But you know me, when I saw crème brûlée, I had to order that. Topped with two strawberry halves and perfectly caramelized, it was silky smooth and delicious! I highly recommend Los Arcos, it’s just right for an after-Sunday mass family get-together: the restaurant can seat large groups comfortably. 12÷28÷14 update — we snuck back over here and service and food were incredible once again(even though we came ½ hour before closing). My current favorite restaurant anywhere!
