Plaster Fun House

Memories of my childhood came gushing back as I put the finishing touched on my masterpiece. This is the kind of place my mum used to bring me to when I was a little girl, there was a shop like this somewhere in SS14 way back then I can’t remember the name though. So when I found out about this place, I just had to give it a try. It’s located at the top floor of Empire Shopping Mall; it’s not hard to find you can see it as you head up the escalator to level 2.
Here’s how it works, you pick out a plaster sculpture that you like. They have many designs to choose from; mostly animal designs (easier ones, suitable for the novice painter) but there are more intricate ones for the more experience painter. The sculptures are priced differently according to the design and they’ll provide the paint, brushes and even glitter too. I picked a fun sun design and started work on my masterpiece. I must say it is a rather calming experience. I was so focused on getting the right color combination and painting within the line that I didn’t realize that an hour went by, just like that. Sure this place is usually filled with children but there I was a grown up with a little brush trying to my sun sculpture look the pretty.
The finish product was awesome, well I think it was awesome anyone. You can choose to cover your finished masterpiece with either a matt of glossy spray. I went with the glossy finish. Overall this was pretty fun experience and hey once in a while it’s okay to let that inner child take over and just go nuts with paint.

I guess I’m totally wrong about this place before. This is not a place that only for the infants. The fact is this is the place that suits me very well.
Having a cup of coffee while painting some plaster figures is truly my kind of way to spend my weekend now. Well, actually this is my new hobby now. This place is awesome.

Pretty cool place for parents to bond with kids while exploring their hidden artistic talents or a place for friends to chill and bring out their inner child. Alternatively, one can also purchase their take-​away packs complete with paint pots and brushes to enjoy the craft painting in the comfort of your own home.
