Union Jacks Best of British Fish & Chips

Union Jack is the perfect name for a country flag, and even more so for a restaurant that sells ‘authentic British fish and chips’.
That is a lie.
Looking past the terrible to horrible décor, I tasted their garlic fish, and it is pretty much the worst thing that I have tasted in a while. It tasted so badly, it reminded me of ABBA, and when something reminds of ABBA, it usually comes down to either any songs by Creed or anything that comes out of Pizza’s Hut kitchen. I am not a huge fan of this place, and if you know food, chances are you won’t be too, and you will skip this place for someplace that serves actual decent food.
Besides that, I had to pay RM20 for that plate of trash. If any trash has to be that expensive, it should be a Bow Wow album.

Coming here with my teammates was a slight mistake. I mean the price of the meal is reasonable but could have been bigger. I ordered the chicken chop which cost about rm 15 for a set. Honestly, the food was just meh including the drinks.
As for the ambience, though its called Union Jack, inside the restaurant it looks like you are either in an isolation room innan asylum or you are in a high level of feng shui chinese store. No offence, they should do something about the deco!
The food I would give about 5.5÷10 as for the ambience and deco probably a 4.

What do you do when you’re starving at 3pm and you’ve not had your lunch? You go into the nearest restaurant and get something to eat as soon as possible. Thats what I did when I went into Union Jack. From the outside, its the bright blur lot with the British flag on its logo. As I walked in, I realised that the interior was very plain, boring and did not seem inviting and all. When i went to place my order, i specifically asked for a Junior Fish & Chips combo.
After a long wait, my food finally arrived an I was not very impressed. The oil from the fried fish was still dripping onto the plate and it was not a very pleasant sight. I also noticed that instead of chips (Fish & CHIPS), they gave me mashed potatoes. I was not very pleased but i ate it anyway since I was very hungry. To add on to my disappointment, the fish was very bland and the batter was so much more than the actual fish. The oil taste was lingering in my mouth as well. I decided to add some salt onto my fish to get a little more flavor. To my dismay, all the salt was clumped up at the top of the salt shaker (they did not clean it) and all the salt dropped onto my plate. I could not finish my meal and the only option I had was the mashed potatoes which did not get attacked by the salt: O Wasn’t surprised when the mashed potatoes were very dry and had a very weird texture. In the end, I just left without finishing my meal.
Its definitely a place I would not go back to but maybe it was just my bad day. They serve up other dishes as well and you should give it a try if you’re keen! :)
