T-rex Muay Thai & Mixed Martial Arts

Got a promotion through a friend to join this gym last year, it was cheaper than the Muay Fit I was considering. This is no ordinary workout gym with weights and treadmill, this is real physical workout without machines. The classes are mostly about self defense classes which is made in to an effective workout. The studio mostly consist of floor cushion mats, 3 punching bags, mirrors, cage fence, bars on the wall for pull ups and human dummies for wrestling. They supply boxing gloves and hit bags for training. But it is better to get your own boxing gloves so that you can clean your own instead of not knowing whether their gloves are cleaned or not.
The training classes here are boxing, mma, wrestling, ju jitsu, karate, kick boxing, boot camp, krav maga, and knife training. The ones you should try is boxing, kick boxing, mma and boot camp as these classes emphasize more on warm ups which is about 30mins non stop. The classes are conducted by trained professionals and fighters who have been in the MIMMA cage fights before. So their work out is very intense but very effective. I lost 10kg plus in 3 months, could be more if I attended a lot more classes in a week.

This place is not an easy to find place, but if you’re looking for it, you could easily look for the bowling alley first, and this place is right next to it. You will see a small corridor leading to T-​rex.
With a pretty catchy name, they had been doing a lot of promotional activities in Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall lately. However, I must say here that they will be persuading you to sign up for their 24 months package, which is of course quite pricey. So, do make up your mind and have thoughtful consideration before committing. We don’t want to regret later, right?
However, they offered a free trial session, which I thought is fair enough. So, at least you get to know what the classes are like and if you actually like the Thai Martial Arts, as they are for sure not the ordinary Tae Kwan Do.
I think I would be trying out the trial class with my friend to get a taste of the place first.
Again, their instructor/​promoter here are so friendly, but just don’t get too swayed okay.

Due to progressive promotions in Sunway Pyramid, I decided to give this place a shot. I’m an avid practitioner of HIIT workouts, so I was excited about this. Prices here are steep since you’d have to pay in advance for two whole years.
However, I really wanted to give it a try, so I tried out their free trial class. Mustering up the remains of my energy and stamina, I finally gave Muay Thai a shot. The warm up routine was fine, although it did make me feel good about myself to see other people panting their lungs out. I enjoyed Muay Thai, although you kinda have to get used to it as it’s more of a self defense kind of thing. I learnt the basics which were a few jabs and uppercuts. I’m not gonna lie, it did feel a bit therapeutic to punch and kick the living hell out of my frustrations.
This centre would be great for anyone who wants to stay and feel lean whilst learning the arts of self defense. Also for anyone who wants to have a therapeutic kick-​out.

T-​Rex martial arts school has been promoting quite aggressively in Sunway pyramid. It’s no wonder as they’re located next to the bowling center, the Sunway Mega Lanes. Even then, you have to walk through a back lane as if going to the toilet. When you finally reach, you have to walk up a narrow flight of rounded stairs before entering the premises.
Upon entering, you are greeted by a large padded floor and the not padded area is where a couple of tables are. There, the consultant greeted us and walked us through what they teach as well as the pricing package. The price was a little steep especially since you have to pay a 2 year fee one off.
We came back another day to take on the free trial class that they have and it was incredibly exhausting. The warm up itself was killer to my legs, probably because I lacked the exercise. After a round of warm ups, we were taught the basics of Muay Thai, some moves on how to defend and how to throw a jab.
Id overall recommend anyone who wants to exercise and keep fit with the benefits of learning self defense to come here as it’s definitely more fun than pumping iron in the gym.
