Restoran Hiong Seng

Chap fan or economy rice is very popular amongst the working class as it is both cheap and delicious. Personally I love eating chap fan because firstly, like any other Asian out there, I love rice! Besides that, there are so many varieties of meat and vege to choose from.
At Hiong Seng, you’d be spoilt for choice. The varieties of meat and veges they have there is far more than the usual chap fan store. Also, the vegetable dishes there are fresh and kept warm. The food there is also not oily like the other chap fan stores that I’ve tried which is another reason why I like their chap fan so much. The workers there are also very nice.
They also have free soup and free chinese tea to wash down your meal. The chap fan here is also affordable even with the variety of dishes to choose from.

I normally come here when I can’t decide what to eat and crave for home-​cooked Chinese food. This mix rice shop sometimes drives me nuts when I look at the array of dishes and all I want is everything.
They serve a big variety of meats cooked in different styles: chicken, pork, and fish, many selections of stir fried vegetables and also tofu dishes, perfect for days when you want to go vegetarian. One of my must haves is the Chap Chye (Vegetable stew which consists of cabbage, carrots, black fungus mushroom and glass noodle cooked in fermented soy) because it reminds me of home! I would normally take a mixture of 2 — 3 dishes that would not cost me more than RM7, which I think is so worth it.
You help yourself to the free Chinese Tea that is refillable, iced or hot and upon being seated, you are also served with hot soup of the day that is also free! It is really spacious and cooling on the inside though not air conditioned. I normally ask for a serving of chopped chilli padi that you can ask for at the counter and they will send it to you.
Although the dishes aren’t maintained heated, unless you come when they are freshly made, I absolutely love this place for it’s genuine homey food and reasonable price!
