Not the kind of place I would voluntary visit but my friend wanted to try it and because of the pork knuckle I found in the menu had caught my eye. I’ve decided to give in and try it out too. There are some outdoor sitting area but who are they kidding. No one would sit out there during the day. We got our seat immediately on a not so busy afternoon. Staffs are friendly and chatty. Food is good but not great. Price is expensive and not justifiable in my opinion. The selection of beer is good but I guess that’s all I can vouch for Malone’s only. Not a place I would find myself back in.

I brought my fiancé here a year ago on her birthday for something different. We usually go for Japanese, Korean, Italian but not Irish cuisine(well, not entirely). I wanted to try the pork knuckles. Service was good but the table we were seated at wasn’t very comfortable. It felt we were eating on a coffee table. The chair was big and not very comfy while eating. I had to lean in to get my food. Their roasted pork knuckles was just alright, better than average but nothing to shout about. And the portion doesn’t worth the amount that I had to pay. Nonetheless, it is a change of for usual though I can’t see myself going back to Malone’s anytime soon.

After an exhausting spree at the Curve, a friend of mine suggested Malone’s for dinner. Personally I wasn’t an avid fan of Irish food, but I tagged along anyway. We thought getting there around 6pm would allow us to beat the dinner crowd, but lo and behold, Malone’s was already buzzing with people. Our waiter was super friendly. He could tell that I was new there, so he took it upon himself to make a couple of suggestions. My friend got the Porky Platter while I opted for the Steak & Chips. Neither of us were good at pool, so we decided to spare ourselves the embarrassment and settle for a good old pre dinner chat. Our food arrived in less than 40 minutes, and we started to dig in. I’m not sure how else to describe my steak other than it being the absolute B-O-M-B. Malone’s tend to not overcook their meat so it’s juices are still retained, leaving every bite scrumptious. They also served a little black pepper sauce as dip, which was equally heavenly. In terms of pricing however, their mains range from RM30 upwards. Yes it is a little on the pricey side, but when it comes to quality, Malone’s does not dissapoint.

As any proper chef would say: a place with the owner’s last name on it is like sticking a picture of your testicles on the signboard, and expecting people to lick it. Not Malone’s. The drinks are affordable, and while it may seem that the pub itself offers more expensive products than affordable ones, it is not so, for its pints of beer are perfectly complimented with near to normal priced food, and you will be able to enjoy yourself sitting in the pub, enjoying the ambience as you contemplate about life and the last girl you probably almost had a relationship with That being said, Malone’s is a pub for everyone to enjoy, and while you may enjoy licking the signboard, you will also enjoy alcohol at its peak, and a rustic environment to fit it.

I used to partner at my friends fashion boutique at Sunway Giza which a mere five-minute drive away from The Curve. Malone’s is one of our favorite watering hole after a hard days work(we used to put in 12-hour working days because we had just opened then.) What we loved about Malone’s is its realness; it’s a good old-fashioned Irish bar with a nice(fully stocked) bar and comfy, brown Chesterfield sofas. It’s a bit like a gentleman’s club but not as hard core. I love hitting the pool table while we enjoy our pints and brainstorm on how to enhance boutique operations. The prices of the drinks are affordable and it’s never too crowded to enjoy a few drinks with friend and business partners. There are also a few tables outside at the walkway of the shopping complex but we prefer it inside as its cooler and a bit more private. Another thing I absolutely love about Malone’s is that you could order food from The Apartment, which is just downstairs as they operate under the same company, MAJOR plus! Good food, good service, good drinks and all round good time!
