I learned about Kumar’s when they came to promote their food and restaurant during an event at my old condominium. I must say the food during the event was quite good. Chicken curry and roti jala is something that you can’t really go wrong though. So my family and I decided to try their restaraunt at Oasis, Ara Damansara. Don’t worry about parking as there are plentiful. Being a new restaurant, it was packed with people and at the same time there was a wedding dinner going on the upper floor. The waiter suggested that we could dine by the fountain area. Why not right? So we sat down and went through the menu. As we were about to place an order, none of the waiters were around. We tried getting their attention from our table but to no prevail. I decided to get up and call a waiter and finally placed our orders. The food came rather quickly, which was good. I was getting really hungry by the minute. I was a little disappointed that the portion was rather small. Though their briyani and chicken tikka was good. The price was more on the higher side and I think I could find a better place and at a cheaper price.

Kumar’s is a looker if you’re a fan of over-the-top, tacky restaurants. It has two floors and overlooks the fountain at Oasis Square. I’ve been there a couple of times, and on both occasions, I felt like I was ripped off. The food was pretty average, and not easy on the pocket either. It’s fine to serve fish head curries and South Indian thali sets, but it’s so easy to get better quality food at a much cheaper Indian restaurant. The food here lacks… heart. Which I think is important in an Indian restaurant — fancy or not. At the end of the day, it feels like you’re paying just for the ambiance, which may or may not be worth for some. Maybe if you have an occasion to celebrate with some older relatives, Kumar’s is apt. But otherwise, there are better restaurants out there.

i’ve never heard of Kumar’s until my boyfriend’s family took me out for dinner. I usually eat indian food at home so I am not a big fan of going out to indian restaurants. But, Kumar’s proved me wrong. Firstly, their location got me excited because its located in Oasis Square. All the restaurants/bars there are located around a big pool which has small water fountains and colourful lights(at night). The environment there gives out a beachy vibe. Kumar’s is hard to miss because its the orange building that stands out from the rest. From the outside, I already knew that it was going to be a very classy restaurant. The waiters were prompt in attending to us and attended us to our table. The interior of the restaurant is very beautiful, simple and classy. The food was just AMAZING. I personally enjoyed every single dish that we ordered which includes; Naan, Basmathi rice, chicken tikka, mutton varuval, raita, ladies finger masala and fish curry. The food portion was small but we ordered 2 – 3 portions of each dish so it was sufficient for us. This is a restaurant that I really liked from the frirst impression I had and I would definitely go back to Kumar’s for both their food and their service.
