Kodawari Udon

Going up the escalator in 1 Mont Kiara, you’ll never fail to notice what I think is a perfectly placed signboard. It’s big, bright, and eye catching. This little udon place carries the same concept as Manmaru Udon in Midvalley, before they changed to a sit and order. Here, you grab a tray and move along the counter, choosing your udon and side dishes.
Now I’m not good with japanese food names, but I had the Dry Beef Udon and the plain Udon Soup. They have a variety of fish and vegetable tempuras too. After paying for your food, you’ll see a condiment bar, my favorite place. The green tea is refillable, so you can be smart and get just a cup if there’s only two of you? Just saying.
One thing I really like too is how they provide the tempura crumps at the bar. I always thought it was a waste to throw all those away. I mean, add in some tempura sauce, and it becomes one of the best side dishes ever! They also had the heart to provide baby utensils for little children which I thought was really cute.
All in all, the udon was great, the beef was very aromatic, the egg was on spot, and everything just went perfectly well for each other. The only setback? It tastes so good, one serving isn’t enough.

Everything here is pretty much self-​service/​do-​it-​yourself — from ordering, to getting your food and drinks, to clearing your own bowls, chopsticks, plates, tray, etc.
My former boss brought me here and I absolutely loved it! I ordered the regular Kake Udon which was really good! The Udon noodles were fantastic and the soup was just awesome! After getting your bowl of Udon, you can proceed to the condiments section to add your own tenkasu (I love tenkasu!), spring onions, raddish, ginger, etc (for free).
On top of that, my boss also ordered two pieces of chicken tempura to share and they were really tasty! Goes really well with the Udon! For really good Udon, I think this place is very well worth your money!

Kodawari Menya is one of those places in 1 Mont Kiara where the food and the price actually correlates to each other pretty well, and has done its job to provide quality ramen to customers since its opening a few months ago.
You can choose your meat and the type of udon you would want to taste, and then voila, the food will be prepared in a manner that you like. My favorite is definitely their beef udon, or anything that they have with beef. It is tasty, and little to no defects that could otherwise spoil the tasty broth.
I will definitely recommend this to anyone whose favorite is a bowl of piping hot udon. You will never regret stepping into this place and eating some of the best ramen in Malaysia. For now.

This is something different from the Japanese dining outlets we go to, it’s more like a fast food point for udon which is rather interesting. You start by selecting type of udon you want to (for example beef slices, tempura or katsu) and they’ll serve the hot steamy udon in dashi for you. Then you can go along the queue and counter to select the additional sides you want like Tempura, baby octopus and so on. What I like about the dish is the chewy and bubble gum-​ish udon and the clear daiso broth. You can season the dashi according to your preference.
The price of a basic bowl of udon starts from RM8 to RM15 and the price hikes when you add in additional side items. The side items is not cheap though, I remember taking a pumpkin tempura and it costed me RM3 for just a slice. Add in a few more ringgit and I could have gotten myself the whole pumpkin already. Finish your order with a drink and your set of udon meal will cost you at least RM20 per meal. To me I feel that it’s pricey for a «fast food» styled place. The soup and udon is decent, but I am not too keen on coming back for more.

The common question we always ask each other WHAT TO EAT! So my partner and i decided to make a deal, if we have nothing to eat for dinner, we are so going to come here. I know the UDON is about Rm15-​RM25 plus but let me tell you, WORTH IT!
Usually Udon are instant and quick really fast but somehow i think the broth or water they use to boil the noodle is just to good, taste like the one in Japan. Not too hard and not too rubbery. I recommend you to try the NIKU UDON the first one on the menu. The beef tasted like its half cook hence gives flavors to the noodle and the soup and WALA the amazing beef udon.
There is also self service and choosing your side dishes like pumpkin, white radish, egg, tempura and many more to be place in your bowl. I recommend you to try the fried onions with potato. Also, free flow of green tea as well as chilli and sauces.
My all time favourite place to eat Udon. You should come and try too as this place is from JAPAN
