Ordered a mee goreng mamak with runny egg, but the egg came well done. The servers aren’t able to follow up on bespoke orders but that’s not a surprise given the venue. Mixed rice is not the best, there are better options elsewhere. So please avoid it. However, the roti canai and tandoori is very good. Order the Roti Telur Banjir, the dhal is good at least.

After a whole day of hiking, room cleaning and walking around Bangsar, all I need to do is re-fuel and Devi’s Corner at Bangsar serves the best Indian food ever. I like to start off with some roti canai and garlic naan, which also goes really well with Tandoori chicken. Their Tandoori chicken is very tender and they’re all freshly made. Ask for their fish and mutton curry to go with your roti canai. It blends very perfectly. The lamb murtabak is a must-have. It’s not too dry nor it’s too wet and mushy. It’s firm and really great to bite on. It’s a perfect meal to share among four people. During lunch, they serve banana leaf rice upstairs in the air conditioned room. Just go upstairs from the side and you can escape the afternoon heat and enjoy the cool air. Downside of the place is that it is always full packed day and night on both level but there will always be space to accommodate to you.

I don’t know what it is about this place that has foodies raving about their food because the one time I was the service was lacking in taste. But I decided to give it another shot one afternoon, just to let it prove itself once again. The place is not hard to spot, situated at the corner shop in Taman Tun, the crowd is ever flowing in and out of the place. They have simple fare like plain roti canai and dhal with teh tarik or you want something heartier, it would have to be the banana leaf or nasi kandar. A friend told me about Bombay toast which is quite well know at Devis, basically just two slices of bread cooked with eggs and sugar, something like an Indian french toast but tastes slightly different as this is really sweet but delicious of course with the perfect combination of egg and sugar. We had a serving of banana leaf rice and it came with the standard fare with the vegetarian side dishes. Wow, I had a taste and it was actually delicious! Plus I dare say it is better than the other banana leaf outlets I have tried, even the one in Bangsar! The curry made the dish, in my opinion as the dhal was thick and full with lentils and spices, not like other places that serve you the watery cheap version that your rice can barely gloat about. The drinks are pretty ordinary like any other kopitiam or mamak as well as the price.

Devis Corner — is your typical corner mamak shop. It’s actually one of my favorite stalls to have lunch whenever I’m craving some Indian food. Out of all the dhal curries served around TTDI, so far Devis Corner’s dhal has been my favorite one. I like my rice with lots and lots of dhal curry and 2 servings of vegetables. I find it simple yet tasty. Price wise, I’m usually charged RM4++. My colleagues like their fried chickens. Rice with dhal, fried chicken and another vegetable dish would cost them about Rm9-Rm10. Pappadam is provided also. You can top up whenever you want.

If you’re looking for amazing local Indian food without the hefty price tag– you owe it to yourself to come to Devi’s Corner. They have a more popular outlet at Bangsar Baru however the TTDI outlet is equally good. The food is cooked by chefs from India so it’s the real deal. When I come here I always order the Chicken Masala and Biryani rice with a glass of limau ice kosong(lime water with no sugar, basically). I’ve also tried the Banana Leaf Rice here but prefer the one near Jalan Klang Lama(can’t remember name of store) which is the best one I’ve tried so far. However, it was still good and tasty. Devis Corner has a large variety of Indian curries and freshly fried chicken and fishe dishes to choose from — their curries are amazingly creamy, tasty and so rich you’ll feel full from just a few spoonfuls of it. Definitely stop by if you’re in the area and in search of an excellent meal to satisfy your tummy — very fulfilling and I always skip dinner after having an Indian lunch because it fills me up for a long period of time. My friends had the fish curry which was also really good. Great vegetarian selection too. Service was average — something you’d expect at a mamak store. Nothing fantastic but you do get your food served on time. However, when we came it was so packed and they were obviously understaffed so it took us awhile to grab anyone’s attention to take our orders. But as I mentioned earlier, food came fast after the order was taken. If you’re looking for great Indian food, and I know that there are many Indian restaurants around, Devis Corner is a definite must-try. Authentic and tasty at very affordable prices. We ended up footing a 50RM bill for the 3 of us. Try and get there during off-peak hours though(i.e weekdays) as there are limited tables and seats and sometimes you may even have to share the table with another group of strangers. However, well worth it once you’ve had a taste of the food! Highly recommend.
