Canton-I has been one of my husband’s favorite venues at 1 Utama, but our last visit to this restaurant was disappointing. My dumpling noodle soup had a BIG lump of noodles — mushy and stuck together. Strangely, dim sum was not available despite the fact that on the menu, it had clearly stated that it was offered during that time. We presumed there was a reason or perhaps some misunderstanding, but all we got from the waiter was a flat«no». An explanation would have been nice. The prices are extremely fair, and the dishes for the most part are great. However, they definitely need to improve their service, and hopefully next time my noodles will be cooked right.

I recently went o Canton-i with my family for a family gathering. We went there for lunch at about 1.15 pm and it was quite crowded. We had to wait ourside for about 20 minutes before we got a seat. While walking in, I saw all the dishes being served to other customers and I was eager to eat as they looked so appetizing. There were about 15 of us so we decided to order individual dishes instead of ordering a few items and sharing. I opted for their Signature prawn wanton(RM11.80). While taking our orders, the waiters were just busy talking away to each other and did not really concentrate on what we were saying. That annoyed me quite a bit. I was quite disappointed with my food as it tasted so average. I could have had better wanton noodles elsewhere for a much cheaper price. Even the dishes that the rest of my family ordered was very average and was not so great. In my opinion, its just an overpriced shop with average food. Also, the waiters were mixing up our orders by bringing dishes that we didnt even order. When we wanted to complain to the person in charge, there was nobody to actually take charge. We were telling each waiter that passed by that our orders were wrong and they just said hold on and never bothered to do anything. Overall, it was quite a bad experience, mainly because of the service. Even the food was not so great and I dont see myself going back here again

I came here after GST was implemented and their staff made a point to inform us that they do charge service tax and GST on top of the bill. It was close to 8pm and the restaurant was still very busy. We ordered 2 dishes each and some dim sum on the side. Food didn’t take long as we specifically told the staff that we are rushing for a movie after. I love how they are very consistent with their food from the first time I’ve eaten here till that very recent one. Price isn’t cheap but quality does worth the price.

I guess when you see the name of this restaurant you would immediately know that Canton-i is somehow related to another great chinese restaurant, Dargon-i. Canton-i is a sister company to Dragon-i restaurants, they are a true chinese restaurant specialises in Cantonese cuisines prepared by chefs from Hong Kong and Guangzhou. Basically most of their main ingredients are air flown in weekly from Hong Kong and China to maintain their high quality standards and authentic taste. As usual this is one of my favourite restaurants that I usually visit as Cantonese cuisine is notoriously famous for their Wan Ton Noodles! I’m a big fan of noodles. Here it is common to be able to sample one of the finest cantonese styled porridges and wan tan noodles, one of my favourite is their Hong Kong styled noodles with Jumbo Shrimp wontons(I love it). Therefore this is a must visit restaurant if you have yet try their hong kong cuisines.

The restaurant serves a lot of Hong Kong style dishes and it is a brand under the famous Dragon-I chain. The menu has favourites like Hong Kong-style noodles with shrimp wontons, roast duck and barbecued meats, silky smooth congee, a wide selection of dim sums and hand made desserts. The location is very popular so you may find yourself waiting quite a bit to be seated. The service is pretty good and the average cost is somewhere around RM15 and RM20. Their wantan noodles are amazing so do make sure to try them at least once.

This is a nice restaurant located at the ground floor in The Gardens Mall. The place is specialised in Japanese food, which will make you feel like you are in Hong Kong. I went here to have a nice relaxing evening where I enjoyed a delicious meal. Except of the food which is heavenly, I like the fact that you can bring your own Chinese Tea leave to make a tea… you just need to pay for the water. You need to know that you will pay RM10 for a pot of water. Which is extremely expensive. I regards to the food I have to say that this is one of the best places in KL where you can have air-flown egg noodels. Also the seafood dumpling soup is superb. I will definitely come here again, but I will not have tea or water.

Now this is the GO-TO place for some awesome porridge & wan tan noodles! Full of flavor & simply delicious. I mean seriously, who would have thought porridge could taste this good especially when your not sick! This place offers a whole load of chinese & Hong Kong specialties. If your looking for a quick fix on these delicacies head on over to this place cause you’d want to sink your teeth in their roast duck & pork! One thing is, most of their outlets aren’t very big thus its constantly crowded with people like myself who just cant seem to get enough. The que can be horribly long & you’ll have to take a que number which could end up making you wait for more than 30 minutes to get a table. This simply justifies how good the place is! Make sure to order the dragon tea to compliment your meal. Prices here are pretty reasonable as well.

If you’re looking for a good dim-sum place in KL then look no further than Canton-i! When I came here with a group of friends on a Saturday it was quite packed however there was an empty table close to the back. A very lively and well lit atmosphere with many families when I was there. Quality Hong-kong style cantonese food — we had dimsum and ordered the usual dumplings and siu mai. What stood out for me was the egg custard bun(soft fluffy white exterior bun encasing a thick creamy egg custard filling — SODELICIOUS!) and also the BBQ steamed pork buns(char siew pau) although I nearly burnt my tongue as I bit into the bun while the char siew was still cooking inside. Service was average though — no one had smiles on their face but they did bring out the food fast and were very efficient when we asked for more tea(kept refilling our tea pots for us) and more wet towels. There were plenty of staff on the floor for the number of patrons which is always good. Food was slightly above average although I’ve had better dim sum at Grand Imperial Restaurant. Prices are about the same as other upper end chinese restaurants — expect to pay about 40RM per person for dim sum. Overall, I’d recommend this place if you’re in the area — delicious food at decent prices! Especially good for big group gatherings but definitely book in advance otherwise you risk having to wait quite a long time for a table to free up.

WANTANMEE! DIMSUM!!! SIUYOKANDCHARSIEWWWW!!! If you didn’t try these when you are in this restaurant, BOOOOOOO! They are the must try items! Of course any other things in the menu is pretty equivalent in food quality as well, like their porridge, fried rice, soup based noodles, and not to forget DESSERTS! They always have a long queue, so if you want to dine in here my best advice will be to call in to reserve your seats. Sometimes it may get too busy till they do not have seats to spare but just make sure you inquire beforehand. It’s a best spot for family gatherings, friend outings, date night and so much more. Child-friendly and elderly-friendly too!

Serving dim sum and cantonese fare, Canton-I is my to go place when I’m craving for some quality roast meat. Roast duck, char siew and siew yuk are widely available here and the quality is excellent despite the higher price you pay compared to your usual hawker stall. I’ll usually order a combo of all three roast meat to share. The egg tarts from the dim sum range is also another favourite of mine as the flaky pastry and milky sweet filling won me over. There’s usually a queue outside the restaurant during peak hour but service is efficient so you won’t have to wait long for a table.

I would call this restaurant rather posh as their interior looks like a typical Chinese restaurant you would find in Hong Kong. The pace of the restaurant is pretty fast, from my observation of this outlet, customers come and go pretty fast. That I would like to commend the restaurant’s efficient service to the customers. it would take them less than 10 minutes or so to serve my meal. I recommend having their prawn wantan noodles. I personally like the dry one but the soup based is also as good. The noodles goes well with the dried chilli sambal that they serve as per requested. Canton-i, do serve dimsum, and the prawn chee cheong fun is something worth trying.

Food: 4⁄5 Décor: 2⁄5 Service: 2⁄5 Canton-I Restaurant in The Gardens has often been the restaurant I go to whenever I feel like having comfort food when I am not feeling well. There are usually a long queue though the restaurant is really big and can accommodate many people. Yupe! That’s how good their food is. I absolutely love their porridge, from shredded pork and century egg congee to porridge with deep fried intestine to fish and meatball congee. I’m yet to taste any porridge that failed to satisfy me from Canton-I. However, due to the large crowd, the customer service in the restaurant was not at its best condition most of the time though the food is served quite quickly. The waiters are often too busy to be attentive and there was even once that they forgot to send in our order. Despite all the negative side, I will still visit Canton-I quite often because of my love for their absolutely amazing porridge.

The only reason why I decided to try out this restaurant is that there’s always a very long Q in front of it. Each time I go shopping I’m a little in the rush and never have time to wait in a queue at the restaurant. However one Saturday afternoon I planned to spend the whole day in Gardens mall so I decided to make some time and check out this restaurant. The restaurant is actually packed with so many tables that are places very closed to each other so I was really shocked, because I thought the reason for the queues must be their lack of seating options. It’s a very fast pace place, where the whole restaurant is in action, but it’s not necessarily a bad thing. It is one of the most efficient restaurants I’ve seen in KL. If you don’t want to spend more than 15RM and have a glorious meal try their Signature Wonton Noodles with Jumbo Prawn Wontons in Soup ! Enjoy!

Food: 4⁄5 Décor: 2⁄5 Service: 3⁄5 Situated in the lower ground of The Gardens which is connected to lower ground of Midvalley, Canton-I Restaurant is very easily accessible and hence the queue is often quite long. The restaurant is bright and nicely furnished. It is often packed with families with kids or young working adults especially during dinner time. The BBQ pork pastry is my favourite. The crust is crispy and the fillings are very tasty. Canton-I is also famous for their egg tarts. I liked their egg tarts too however I wouldn’t say that it is the best egg tart that I have had. We ordered dough stick cheong fun as well which unfortunately I do not quite like it. The dough stick wrapped in the cheung fun was too thick and they waiter didn’t provide us with enough sauce for it. Besides dim sum, Canton-I is also famous for their porridge. My personal favourite would be shredded pork with century egg congee. The portion is big and I usually won’t be able to finish one bowl by myself. Canton-I is definitely a restaurant worth visiting.
