At fist I thought its two things into one place: a restaurant and a desert spot. Well its actually a veggie option but they do have the cake aspect of it too. The restaurant offers vegetarian food only and I must admit its pretty good. I was glad to see that the secret recipe cakes are still on the menu but also that you can enjoy some healthy food before you indulge into some sweets. Besides the healthy options they even have fresh fruit juices and fruit teas. The prices are really affordable and a meal cost RM14 and the beverages or the cakes are around RM10.

Beyond Veggie is a vegetarian restaurant by Secret recipe. Now i love my meat so the only reason i ended up dining here was because two of my friends were vegetarians this particular day and so we kinda had no other choice. We ordered 5 dishes, honestly cannot remember what they were, pretty much mushrooms, leafy vege’s, and beancurd without egg of course. They even serve cakes that are made without eggs. Those were quite good. The food overall was as good as it can get when it comes to vegetarian food. Will i go back again, probably not. If i were a vegetarian for lent or whatever i would rather eat banana leaf than have food at beyond veggie. The restaurant also has a very nature ish feel and has lots of greens everywhere to symbolize vegetables i guess.

I went to Beyond Veggie a few months back with my friends since we were all vegetarian for a week. Beyond Veggie is the sister company of Secret Recipe. BV offer a wide variety of healthy vegetarian meals including cakes, and the best part is that they’re eggless. I ordered a vegetarian cheesecake and the vegetarian satay. My friends ordered heavy meals but I opted for just a light meal. I have to say that the food is really good. The cheesecake taste like regular cheesecake and the vegetarian satay(mock meat and mushroom) was so delicious, especially with the peanut sauce. Even the dishes my friends ordered were so tasty and the portions were big. I would definitely go back here whenever I am being a vegetarian.

I think that we all know the Secret Recipe cakes and the dishes from them. This restaurant has a nice spin from cakes to a healthy dishes. This restaurant serves only vegetarian food, salads and soya which is replacing meat. I like here the rice — mushrooms with eggs which is delicious and the pot is quite big. I am a meat fan, and I don’t really like to eat in vegetarian places, but this one is quite good. I enjoyed my meal here. The place is quite big… it has tables outside and inside and the atmosphere is really nice. It’s quite and the place is not so full, so is perfect for a nice talk and also to go with a group of friends.

A spin-off by the group that brought you the extremely popular cake shop, Secret Recipe. This restaurant concentrates more on healthy eats. Quite the big leap from a cake shop huh? One clogs up your arteries and reduces the number of years you live and the other frees up the blood vessels and actually adds more numbers to your life so you could live forever. I guess there is equilibrium there. This meat-less restaurant focuses more on, you guessed it, vegetables and engineered meats made from vegetables and mushrooms which they claim taste just like meat. They have yet tasted an eraser. I’m an extreme carnivore, there’s no in-between. I eat steaks and chicken and to tell you the truth, wouldn’t have it any other way. And nothing that is engineered to look like meat or chicken can ever replace the taste of actual meat and chicken. I mean I’m all for vegetarians and all but do you guys hate vegetables that much? Anyways, Beyond Veggie was truly an interesting experience for me, I tried their Spicy Fried Rice and it wasn’t half as bad. I also tried one of their detox smoothies and that went without a hiccup too. I’m confident I added at least a week to my life on that one visit alone. Not too shaby…

Going out as a vegan, along with other people who are on a strict diet, we were bumping heads on what to stuff our faces with, other than grass. I made a resolution with Beyond Veggie. Curious as we were, we entered not knowing what to expect, other than other fellow plant-eating hippies. I’d say the atmosphere was pretty mellow, very… earthy, I guess. We had our usual salads which was an excitement for me, but a bore for them since they’d be eating a big, juicy steak if it weren’t for their diet. Overall, it is a nice place, nothing THAT spectacular. It has a nice ambience, for Friday night dates, group hangouts, or even weekend quality time with families. The prices are definitely higher but the food made up for it.

Secret Recipe’s Beyond Veggie place is in the ground flour of Mid Valley Mega Mall. really cool menu if you want to cut down on the meat and bread :) You can grab a Caesar salad at almost 9 rm. the menu is very diverse and you won’t be disappointed. The atmosphere is great, the restaurant is at the very end of the ground flour food court, so it’s less noise. I love the greenish feel of it. pretty nice touch! you’ll enjoy!

With the amount of meat I eat almost every day, I really do hope one day I will become a vegan. But I also wonder what will spark me to doing so? It is amazing how Beyond Veggie is seen almost in every mall in KL and Selangor. It is quite a nice dining place if you are looking for some refreshing and modern vegetarian dishes. Of course, to live up to their name, their food have no colouring or preservatives, just healthy and delicious. Did you know that Beyond Veggie was the brainchild of the husband and wife owner of Secret Recipe? Anyway, my dining experience was great but of course being an outlet that operates in a mall, do expect to fork out more. I heard that there are well known for their fruit tea, which is something that I will try in my next visit.

Boy was I pleasantly surprised with this place. I have been a loyal customer of Secret Recipe for their reasonably priced cheesecakes that is yet to disappoint me but why would I bother eating their food, what more when it’s vegetarian right?! If I wasn’t coaxed into eating here, I’d never would have known! I love going meatless once in a while if you do too, recommended dishes would be the light and easy to eat Fried Mushroom Salad, delicious Stir Fried Lotus Root, and Fragarant Tofu. For two person, this would fill you up even without rice!(If you are girls of course: P) Tried the outlet in Sunway Giza in Kota Damansara where they have a airy and nice outdoor seating.

It’s not just a dinner/lunch place. It’s a place where you go for an experience, not for a meal. I always thought you need some meat to call a plate — a meal. I was wrong. Vegetarian dishes at Beyond Veggie Secret Recipe are just refreshing! It is such a good feeling to know that you are eating a meal without added colours and it’s just healthy — definitely a rare case in Malaysia. This place is famous for it’s Fruit TEA and nutty mix salad! YUM! Go ahead and try it out. :) I definitely recommend.
