This is a nice place to grab lunch in the B1 °F of the Shinjuku Grand Tower. They have a good number of seats, and last week when we arrived with a party of 8 for lunch, they were able to push together several tables for our group and we didn’t have to wait very long. You can choose a meat dish, pasta dish, or a risotto, all of which include a salad bar and drinks bar with juice, coffee, and iced tea. Lunch prices range from ¥1000 for pasta and risotto to around ¥1200−1500 for a meat dish. The salad bar doesn’t have very many items, but everything in it is quite good. Many Japanese salads use shredded cabbage as filler, but Vivo has a nice assorted green leaf mix(optional cabbage on the side) and toppings like fresh edamame beans, baby corn, mâche(lamb’s lettuce), and fried onion bits. There’s also Japanese-style potato salad and blanched broccoli. The coffee in the drink bar is not very good. One of my coworker’s commented that the hot coffee tasted strangely of hot dogs, while the iced coffee was just gross. I usually stick to orange juice or grapefruit juice. The food is otherwise consistently good and the portion sizes are pretty hearty. I often leave here feeling full and satisfied(as long as I don’t have the coffee).
