A historically famous Tonkatsu specialty restaurant near Shinjuku San-chome station. This family business started out as a ramen/croquette canteen in 1947, it then moved to a new location in 1958 as a Tonkatsu specialty restaurant. Business then again moved to the current location in 2003. Unilocal Japan team visited Suzushin for lunch. I had difficult time choosing what I wanted from their lunch menu. Their standard option is regular«Tonkatsu Teishoku» at 1000 Yen. However, the size looked a bit small for my appetite. The bigger size Tonkatsu(150g) was 1400 Yen. Woo, that is a bit pricey lunch. I eventually decided on their filet Katsu(120g) for 1800 Yen. I like filet because I prefer less pork fat in my katsu. Taste: Very tasty, however, I was a bit disappointed with the amount of filet tonkatsu I received for 1800 Yen. Since it tasted so good, I wanted more! CONCLUSION: After reading reviews of co-diners that ordered«Roast» katsu, I am now certain that you need to order their«Rosu-Katsu» instead of their«Filet». The size is significantly bigger and cheaper.
