As the name of this restaurant tells you, their speciality is their *meat” which is Japanese A5 top quality beef. The meat has exceptionally rich flavor in it and their steak and«meat ball»(we call it «Hamberg» in Japan) are all superb. Simply put, it’s very good and reasonably priced. Considering the quality of the meat they use in the dishes, I think it’s a fantastic deal for customers. Naturally, this place gets pretty crowded every day, particularly peak times, and what’s worse is that they don’t take reservations. So, you need to just pop in and there’s often a waiting line. Try to avoid the peak time windows and go in a small group of people. You probably have no use fo Gotanda, so you have to come to Gotanda just for this restaurant, but I guarantee it’s worth a small trip and wait. Especially if you are a beef lover, you’ve got to go check it out.

We traveled 6000 miles from Seattle to Japan for this awesome, heavenly, bodily orgasmic experience known as A5 Wagyu beef. My buddy Khen, researched and found Meat Yazawa in Gotanda, Tokyo for our meat eating pack of 5 brolic men. After taking several different subway lines from our stay in Shinjuku we arrived at Meat Yazawa only to be told we had a wait of 30+ mins before we can be seated. No problem, we puffed our vaporizers outside the seated waiting area as we looked at their menu. Prices ranged from $ 50-$ 100+USD depending on your cut of A5 Wagyu beef. I knew immediately that I would have to get my favorite cut, the ribeye. Due to its fattiness, the marbling, and the flavor no other cut compares. The restaurant itself was pretty small, ambience reminded me of an Outback Steakhouse. I walked over to the kitchen area and gazed upon the beautiful cuts of steak on the counter waiting to be seared to perfection. And YES those beautiful marbled raw A5 steaks you see in the menu pictures is EXACTLY how they look in kitchen. The steaks look pearled out due to the immense amount of marbling. On a side note, their bathroom has a bidet too ;) I ordered the 200gram ribeye cooked to medium rare w/white rice, potato wedges, and Wagyu soup. I didn’t care for any of the side items, just my beautiful piece of meat. That first bite was an explosion in my mouth. I barely had to cut it with my knife! It did not require any seasoning the fat, the flesh, it was the perfect mouth watering balance. It was perfectly cooked, soooo tender! I have never had a steak in my life that was comparable to this! Simply, the best beef I’ve ever had. I liberally shook my head at all those folks who ordered ground wagyu beef steaks. Why go with grounded burger meat when you can get the meat in its purest form? A slab of meat cut off the cows carcass. Not one piece of fat or gristle was left behind. I took my roll and mopped up any remaining fat and grease off my iron skillet. Awesome experience, loved it so much I went back to Meat Yazawa the next weekend and satisfied my craving with a 300gram NY cut sirloin. Eating at Meat Yazawa sort of ruined how I look at steaks now. I’ll have a nice steak at an upscale steak house in Seattle/Bellevue and regard those meals as fit for dogs only.

Too expensive and not really worth the wait! Had to sit outside and wait on a small porch. I tasted nothing special about it and portions were just too small! $ 80 for ½ of ground beef cooked way too bloody I will not do again! And none of the sauces worked for me but that’s just my opinion and the tenderloin steak was small enough to mention in the fine print next to the asterisk

Meat Yazawa is a great place to grab some protein and enjoy the overall ambiance. Finding this place was a bit difficult as it is in Gotanda and I don’t frequent that area within Tokyo all that often. Regardless, once it was found, it was nothing short of a hidden gem. The menu was large and easy to read, the service was decent and the food was solid. I had the famous Hamburg steak combo paired with filet mignon some garlic sauce, corn, some greens and potatoes to accompany the meat. I must say, the Hamburg was very good, a bit greasy but it was definitely cooked to perfection. The filet on the other hand was absolutely fantastic! It was cooked to perfection and the meat was so tender that you really didn’t even need a knife… This entrée paired with a good bottle of wine along with some good company make this place a-ok in my book. You may want to come early, as there seems to be a hefty wait if you don’t… Overall, highly recommended. Pros– Food Filet Ambiance Menu Wine Beer Decent price Cons– Odd location Service a tad slow Small dining area

One of the most delish Japanese Hamburg-steak restaurant. Always huge line! Around 3pm-4pm is very easy to get in. And the menu changes lunch version to dinner version at 4pm. Lunch menu is much reasonable.

This is the reason god made wagyu cows. I am so happy and greatful I am a carnivore! Ordered as a set, with salad, soup, side if rice. The sirloin steak was awesome. Lots of fat that tastes sooo good. My knife just falls thru the meat. Not cheap, definitely worth it. Enjoy!

The reason we visited Yazawa Meat is because of its famous superb A5 rank Wagyu-beef Japanese style hamburger steak, even though we knew its also famous for crowded long lines. A5 rank is the highest grade wagyu-beef classified throughout strict evaluation of yield grade, marbling fat, texture, color, etc. The reason Yazawa can do A5 wagyu-beef at this reasonable price is because they are meat wholesaler, dealing with some very famous Tokyo yakiniku restaurant. Yazawa meat opens at 11:30, but friends tell me it’s best to arrive at least 30 minutes early, so that we can be seated as the first round of guests. I’ve been here for lunch twice, dinner once, usually be seated in a about 30 minutes wait. But it worths the wait — yummy! Since I am not a big fan of raw hamburger, I had my hamburger medium well, which is not pink at all but still very tender — though their recommendation is medium rare, and this A5 rank wagyu-beef is fresh enough to eat as rare. The hamburger is plain but very juicy, great beef! It’s a pity that no reservation is accepted.
