Amameria is five minutes walk from the ever-stretching shopping arcade of Musashi-Koyama. It’s a relaxing little spot for buying coffee beans, hanging out, sipping at coffee, and catching up on some reading. The name Amameria comes from a merging of the words«mame»(«bean» in Japanese) and cafeteria, and is a nod to its roastery nature. There are a few tables and chairs for couples or small groups, but Amameria put the bulk of their efforts into providing expertly roasted beans for the residents of Musashi-Koyama(That said, I have a soft spot for their lunch sandwiches). The coffee beans rotate depending on season and selection, but the house blends are available all-year round. I’ve recently been enjoying their ‘rouge’ blend — a mild strength coffee with a wonderfully nutty aroma that feels perfect for Spring mornings. It’s also worth noting that purchasing 200 grams of beans will get you a free coffee of your choice, and Amameria have all the range you would expect of a coffee-centric café. I tend to lean towards Cappuccinos and Lattes, but order a drip coffee and you can choose from their whole current line-up of beans — a very nice touch. Amameria is a great little neighbourhood spot where all are welcome, and you can forget about the hustle and bustle of Tokyo life for a few moments. Check it out!
