The food is exactly like what I’ve had in America. So pretty authentic in that aspect. I was expecting something to be better though, an improvement. I’m also a little confused about what cuisine they’re going for — I had loco moco, one of my favorite Hawaiian dishes(it was just. normal… good but not amazing); my friend got phở and spring rolls. She said the phở was warm, not hot, so the side veggies didn’t cook in the broth. My loco moco came with a side salad of greens, that had a little too much mayonnaise on them. The loco moco had its usual overwhelming amount of gravy, but that’s what I was hoping would be different. The spring roles were a little too leafy too — again, authentic, but in America they would not be considered great spring rolls. So yeah… Authentic, but if it were in America it would be considered average. I don’t plan on going back.

On 7th floor of the Hikarie Shopping Mall at Shibuya Station. This place is very busy on weekends. A bit pricey but offers delicious food and a friendly service. Menu is in japanese and english, so no problems to choose for non japanese.

On the 7th floor of Hikarie in Shibuya, Kailua Weekend is looking to corner the healthy Hawaiian market with salads, fake meat options, green smoothies and interestingly, phở.(Back home in California phở is not exactly considered a health food but since I love the stuff, how can I argue?) Their clientele is almost exclusively made up of women. This is something I’ve noticed in Tokyo — that there are whole establishments that seem to cater solely to women with no men in sight.(I suspect men have their own places but I have not yet been invited to them.) Any place serving«healthy» food or having to do with pancakes seems to skew super female. I was seated right away at a communal table by the very friendly hostess. I ordered the most bountiful salad on the menu which came with three dressing options, all of which were delivered to my table in petite pitchers. I love condiments, especially salad dressing, so this endured me to Kailua Weekend straight away. My salad hit the spot and was very fresh but wasn’t special(kale hasn’t caught on yet in Tokyo as far as I can tell). Nonetheless the greens did their trick and I left Kailua Weekend feeling loads better than when I had entered. Recommended for lunch if you’re nearby and craving ruffage.
