Occasionally I stroll into the back alley almost residential neighborhoods in Tokyo and randomly come across a little old Mom & Pop restaurants. Isomiya was just one of these spots that must survive on a local regular following. Inside had tatami seating, mini talbes and a counter for about 6 people. If you are lucky your counter seat will have a tiny view into the elderly man making all the tempura and lunch orders. I’ve had the Ten-don but the sauce causes the crispy tempura to get a bit soggy but I’m a huge fan of the massive 1,000yen Tempura Teishoku. You get a nice sized shrimp, fish, boiled ika, smaller shrimps clumped into a round tempura and a whole bunch of random veggies. 1,000yen price point for a little mom & pop shop is rather high but the amount of food easily justifies it. I’ll continue to visit~
