Teppanyaki was born here, by the founder of this restaurant. This is the Osaka branch. Not far from the Osaka main station, but depending on what side of the station you are on it can be a hike; and it is a bit out-of-the-way as it is upstairs off the street. Small but they let us in during the height of business lunch without a reservation. Be prepared to spend a good yen if you don’t stick with the lunch menu. But do try some of the Kobe beef as that is what it is famous for. The food was great, of course. Truly memorable was the garlic that came with the steak.

I would give a 3.5 if possible. Nice service, but I didn’t feel overwhelmed by the meal. I felt everything had too much black pepper on it. The garlic rice was absolutely delicious though! Also that chilled beef! So nom! For a meal with such a steep price though, meh. There’s other great cuts of beef. I guess kobe wasn’t my thing.

This place was a lot easier to find them I expected. It’s about a 20 minute walk from Umeda/Osaka Station. Came here for lunch and the place was not as packed as I would of expected for a Saturday afternoon. All the tables are teppan-yaki style(meaning cooked in front of you). Although they had lunch special, that were quite reasonable– but they weren’t Kobe beef. So we decided to order 2 different grades, a Kobe grade and a Super Prime. Both of the grading are good on its own, but the Kobe beef was more tender then the super prime version. Should you decide to choose the Kobe version, do expect to pay for the price. After all it is KOBE, which is a classification on its own.

I give this a 3.5 stars. 1. The lobster was fantastic, done perfectly not rubbery or overdone 2. The veggies were delightful and yummy 3. Chilled sliced beef was really good 4. The Kobe was really really fatty which was really gross. It did melt in my mouth but also filled it with fat. It didn’t help that he used oil with the beef to made it even greaser 5. Service was meh. 6. Lobster miso was pretty good, poor lobster Overall, would have given this a solid 4.5 if it wasn’t for the really fatty Kobe beef. It just tasted off from the other Kobe beef I had in Kyoto — Gion. Pretty sure it wasn’t worth the $ 550 price tag.

Absolutely Fantastic!!! We went to Misono without a reservation on a Monday night during our trip to Osaka. When we arrived, there was a sign on the door that said the restaurant was full due to reservations. We were absolutely bummed. I thought I would give it a shot by speaking to the hostess anyways, and we were pleasantly surprised when she seated us at an empty table that they had already closed down for the night. 5 stars for service!!! Once we sat down, we decided to go with the course menu that included the Kobe beef steak and lobster, which came with appetizer, kobe beef shabu shabu, lobster, kobe steak, veggies, garlic fried rice, lobster miso soup, and melon for dessert. Let me just say that everything was delicious. We especially enjoyed the lobster tail, which was not chewy at all, kobe steak, which was melt in your mouth good, the garlic fried rice which was made with the melted fat from the kobe beef, and the ripe and juicy melon. We left the place full and happy and will definitely go back if we’re ever in Osaka again! We were told by the manager/chef that there are other locations in Kobe and Tokyo, so we can also try those locations as well. It was a bit pricey at over $ 550 with some drinks, but it was worth the price!
