This small museum is located in the precinct of Zenkouji Temple. It is so nostalgic and lovely that I want to describe the attraction of the museum. There were a lot of traditional sweet shops in 1940−50s. I was deeply impressed with the exhibition. Not only sweets but also toys, an old electric washing machine(very small and compact and squeeze water by hand), a television, a wooden refrigerator and the like were displayed. The toys and sweets at that time are very simple and not functional compared with today’s ones, but they might have helped developing children’s imagination and creativity. Our life becomes convenient more and more today. I do not think that I want to return to old inconvenient life. But I hope the culture which has put importance on surrounding objects in this way will last for next generation.
