A ramen place close to Sakuradai station. Although it has stiff competition from Ramen Jiro only a few hundred steps away, the shop does a good job of providing a quality, tasty bowl of noodles at a reasonable price. The main distinguishing factor here is that the restaurant serves a broth-less ramen. This might sound tasteless, but appearances can be deceiving. The chefs put just enough sauce on the bottom of the bowl so that if you swirl the noodles around, you will be greeted by an explosion of flavours. As if by magic, the less noodles there are in your bowl, the stronger the flavours become. Overall, I would highly recommend this shop. The only downside is that the shop itself is a little bit unkept and dirty.

If you are new to ramen you’ll go thru stages… Shoyu, Shio, Tonkotsu then dabble in the Tsukemen(dipping noodles) arena. But one day you’ll wander into spot that serves soupless ramen. If you ever need to wander into just one location this IS the place to hit up. Hagan is in the battle grounds of Sakuradai… we have Ramen Jiro(highly ranked among all the Jiro’s in Tokyo), Maruyoshi tanmen, friendly Hanaichi run by a single mother, Gottsu… and the list goes on~. Hagan is the only location to serve soupless ramen and its just soooo good. Love the thick chewy noodles and the blow torched pieces of pork.
