This is now the ramen I crave! Perfect score. That broth is reckless just like what the name means. Reckless as in everything you love about deep tonkotsu soup is in there. The marrow the bones the tendons the ligiments of the pigs feet all broken down in to that wonderful incredible soup. If you love tonkotsu this maybe the best ramen you will ever have. It is now my favorite, it makes me forget, ippodo, jyungara, and ichiran. Id skip all those to get this wonderfully reckless creation. And besides the best ramen you will ever have in your life is the chef who does not hide behind the scenes is the type of man you want making your ramen. He is the only one that touches the broth and hes working hard to crush those bones to perfection. He is as humbled as ever checking in on you as you devour his creation as a matter of fact the whole staff is, each time a customer leaves someone if not the chef escorts you out to thank you. What devotion?! Takana is also the best, we always buy a package to go when we come here which is all the time. Best joint ever.

Last year, when I visited muteppou with my wife for our honeymoon we had no idea what to expect. Unilocal barely got started in Japan and all we had to go off of was the opinions of the food bloggers. We walked through small neighborhoods to get to this ramen shop and I’m pretty sure my wife thought I went crazy leading her through these zig-zag streets. The tonkotsu ramen at muteppou, is the very best bowl of ramen I have ever had. I’m unsure if this is the best ramen in the world, but I wouldn’t be surprised if I never find anything better. It’s definitely on the must-go list for our next trip back to Tokyo. We weren’t sure of what to order, so we did the standard ¥750 ramen + pan-fried dumplings. Absolutely delicious! And worth every minute of that long trek from the closest train stations.

Quite possibly the best ramen I have ever eaten. I took a train from my hotel room in the Shinjuku area of Tokyo TWICE to eat this unbelievable ramen. The quality of the noodles are great. I ordered them medium hardness. The broth is unbelievably great. The viscosity is just bellow maple syrup and has a heartiness that will push you to the brink of passing out. For an extra ¥160 you can buy some rice to pour the remaining broth on and I fully suggest you do it. To top it all off, the pork pieces that are in the broth and so tender to the point they are teetering on the brink of being liquid themselves. It is out in a more residential area of Tokyo, but I strongly suggest this to any visitor in the area to try it once. The English address is: 4−5−1 Ekoda, Nakano-ku, Tokyo I’ll post pictures with basic ordering instructions.
