The first time I passed the General Nogi’s Residence (The Shrine is beside it) I was surprised that a person who committed suicide will have it’s own shrine. Sorry I’m not being judgmental but I find it really weird.
I never would have visited both the residence and the shrine if not for a Japanese friend. We had a great discussion about this shrine and made me realize there is so much more to the Japanese culture that I don’t know about.
There is no fee to visit both the residence and the shrine. It’s a nice little shrine. There was a small event when we got there and we got some free tea.
I’m glad I decided to visit this place.
