Why would I come here on my vacation to Japan? To see the new Hachiko statue of course! The owner of the loyal dog used to be a professor at this university. It was so nice to see hachiko happy with his master compared to his lonely depressing version of himself waiting in front of shibuya train station for his master who never came home after he had a heart attack at school one day. Everyone who visited the statue was happy, even the elderly Japanese ladies and men who came. Definitely a must see for those who love Hachiko.

Komaba campus is one of three campuses of Tokyo University, which is called Todai and is the most famous university in Japan. Basically freshman and sophomores commute there for their general education classes.
Add to students and faculties, many kids with their mothers visit this campus to play They think of the campus as a big park. I often see Todai students play with kids.
This campus is very beautiful and I recommend walking through the «Icho-Namiki (ginkgo street, 銀杏並木). Though during lunchtime the street gets crowded, while the students are in class you’ll enjoy the beautiful scenery much better.
