I’m a fan of the Gooz. First of all, what a name; «Hey M, want to go to the gooz for coffee?» «Yes. I’m down for some Gooz» I could say that word all day long. Gooz gooz gooz! Second of all, where can you find cheap tea/coffee, fresh snacks, seating AND it’s all by the river(okay, thats a bit of an exaggeration. It’s not exactly NEXT to the river but it’s very close). This doesn’t feel like your typical convenience store in Japan. I think it has to do with their self service coffee/tea station. You can put soy milk, normal milk and add flavored syrups — so many choices at your fingertips! All for 100 — 200 yen! Not to mention they tastefully(sneakily?) line the opposite shelves with open bakery style breads and pastries. Who can resist? I think this convenience store offers fancy coffee for a fraction of the cost of coffee stores(ehem ehem Starbucks) with the same taste, perhaps even better.
