京つけめんつるかめ

This place is located in the Teramati street.
You can choose the size small, medium, large for free.
Large is 300g of whole wheat.
And you can also select the two types of noodles cold or hot.
Cold one is good and chewy.
Hot one keeps the soup warm.
I chose 味噌坦々つけ麺(Miso and spicy thick soup)
The soup is thick enough to eat and delicious.

So! Tsukemen is basically noodles that you dip into the soup base. This place is tiny, a 8 seater bar tucked away in a small alley next to the large Café de Crie on Teramachi. However, you should def try it out. If this location is packed, as it often is, there’s a sister store on 六角通りnot too far away, I think. Because this location is so tiny, it has a very «traditional» noodle shop feel. My friend and I were lucky to stop by right when seats were open. This is not a place for large parties.
I got the 西京味噌坦々つけめん, a thick miso broth with tantanmen, a Chinese style noodle that is slightly chewy. The broth was phenomenal, I think. It’s super thick, has a deep sesame flavor, with a tiny kick of spicy oil, and hangs on wonderfully to the noodles. Of course, you can add more spice yourself.
Additional condiments available on the counter for free are vinegar and garlic oil, salt, and pepper. I would recommend you finish ¾ of your noodles, and then switch it up by adding some vinegar and garlic to the broth to see how it changes. The broth also comes with two thick slices of delicious tender charshu.
For the amount of noodles, you get a choice of 150g, 200g, or 300g. I got the medium, which was just enough. If you’re hungry, though, 300g might be the way to go.
They also ask if you want your noodles warm or cool. Traditionally, I think noodles come cool but if you get cold noodles, your dipping broth also become cold quickly.
The broth is also refillable, but it seems that when they refill your broth, they add only the light soup base (w/​o the miso/​sesame/​etc) so it will become slightly diluted. Still delicious, though.
I def want to come back and try their other menu items. ^^
