Dropped by in the afternoon for lunch on a lazy overcast Sunday. They had three sets-Soup, quiche, and sandwich. It was a hot day and I really wanted to try their bread(because, duh, they’re a bakery also), so I went with the soup set– it was a kabocha squash soup. I could choose hot or cold, and I went with the chilled soup. Chilled soup really hits the spot on a hot day. Anyways, the large bowl of fresh deliciousness comes with some salad greens and an assortment of bread. The magical thing is– the bread is all you can eat! So if you finish the bread, and want more, you can get it! My inner bread monster was so happy. Annee does have good bread, btw. As I sat enjoying my chilled soup with bread… I noticed that everyone who came in to buy from the baked goods counter, or even the people who were settling their bill and leaving, bought an An Pan(red bean filled bread). My curiosity got the better of me, and since I wanted dessert anyways, I got one to eat in. Great. The bread was thin– not super bready, and the red bean paste was chunky– how I like it– and not too sweet. However, it does have sugar crystals in it, so occasionally you get a little crunch. Verdict? Definitely good for bread. If you are a large eater, you may have to settle for just ordering a lot of bread refills, as the portion/mains themselves are not incredibly filling. But if you’re just looking for a light healthy meal, this is a safe bet. ***I think they are the sister café of Café Kocsi, a book café nearby.
