We used to LOVE this place when I studied abroad in Viterbo 7 years ago. I went back more recently, maybe two and a half years ago, and it was just as I had left it :). Potato and sausage & prosciutto were my favorites.

By far the most popular pizza place in this little town. For 6 or 7 euro you can get a beautiful pizza the size of two heads, thin and crispy, charred atop. Come early at 7pm when they open to get seated right away or risk a two hour wait on a busy night. Everything on the menu is good, though I recommend the simpler of pizzas.

El lugar es una vieja iglesia y por eso es muy característico:) la pizza es bastante grande y rica y los camareros son rápidos y cordiales:)

Pizzeria in the heart of the Medieval historical center of Viterbo, with a curious story behind it. In fact, it seems that in the Middle Age, during a revolt of local citizens against King Frederick, a monk traveling in the area decided to stay and help the rebels; he wisely rationed supplies of flour, making a good pizza to feed the people. The story was passed along for centuries till someone found the old recipe and opened a pizzeria calling it monastery. Pizza is very large and served on two plates, and taste is delicious: soft, thin and fragrant, it’s a pleasure to eat it.
