Sad to admit, but even Italy can have mediocre gelato. Located in a super busy shopping strip in Verona, I truly only stopped to get it, because my gelato clock told me it was time and I was dehydrating with no water in sight. I ordered the mango and amarena and wasn’t happy at all since my gelato standards had skyrocketed from the day before. It tasted super artificial and concentrated, not rich at all. Yeah, it’s a sorbet, but it was way too sweet and just tasted like iced juice. Prices are steep due to the location. Venchi is a large chain, so I should have expected this. Not the best tasting or authentic gelato, I wouldn’t recommend it.

I have been to the other venchi branches in florence and bologna which I really enjoyed. unfortunately, I was disappointed with this one. I ordered a stracciatela and it didn’t taste ad good as the other ones. the bits of chocolate in the ice cream were so small you couldn’t taste the chocolate at all. Also, the other faux pas, I ordered melted chocolate in the cone as I had at the other branches which has an additional cost. In florence and bologna the additional cost is 0.50 euros, however in Verona for whatever the reason it’s double the amount. I would have expected a standardized cost for these things.
