They’ve got an 18 Euro menu which includes service fee and tax:
Pick a starter (pasta), and your main comes with an undressed salad of arugula and red lettuce.
Their bread is really soft and lacks any toothsomeness, but my buddy really liked that about it. Somebody tell me… Where is the damn ciabatta in this country!!!
Food:
— Penne with vegetables– ⁴⁄₅ tasty but not like your Nonna made it… If you had an Italian Nonna.
— Gnocchi with tomatoes– ²⁄₅ I’m kind of on the fence on this one. I’ve only had gnocchi that’s been pan-​fried to a light crisp, and this was just a soft ball. Maybe that’s another way to eat gnocchi and I’m just a gnocchi-​rookie, but not a fan.
— Veal Milanese– ⁴⁄₅ it was nice and juicy! It’s served by itself without a sauce or anything, which is a little different than what us silly Americans are used to!
— Calamari– ⁴⁄₅ nice and lightly salted. Cooked to perfection and served with lemon.
I would definitely come back to try their pizza or calzone. Those looked quite good.
Service was just okay. You know, that surly «I really don’t like you tourists or have time for you to practice your bullshit Italian formalities on me» guy. Whoops. Il conto, per favore???

Cheap Basic eats… not my idea of a nice holiday lunch. Reminds me of college days. Best to avoid this joint if you are expecting anything decent. The pork schnitzel was 3 mm thick, and salad looks like it was made last night. The pasta was overlooked and reminded me of Pizza Hut.

We went here for lunch and it was fantastic! Their house wine was great, their outdoor area was wonderfully decorated and breezy and the service was great minus one guy who wasn’t a big fan of us trying to learn Italian.
The spaghetti was great with fresh parm for the table. My wife had penne pasta with arrabiatta (sp) sauce and loved it. The bread was fresh and went well with the tables olive oil. I would definitely reccomend this place for lunch! It’s not to far from St. Marks, and a nice retreat from the crowds and high prices. GO!

I didn’t like the spaghetti and salads and I thought they are a bit pricy compare to the other restaurants around the town. i liked the fried calamari but they were really salty.

We happened to stumble upon this restaurant during a family trip to Venice this summer. We tend to eat at weird hours so we were a bit early for lunch and the first people in the restaurant.
The waiter was so great, I wish I remembered his name! I ordered a basic spaghetti and he suggested a different dish, I was skeptical but didn’t want to offend him, so I agreed and changed my order to his suggestion, the spaghetti al pesto trapanese. It was soooo good! Much better than your typical marinara spaghetti, clearly a homemade sauce.
We weren’t planning on ordering dessert, but again, the waiter suggested their almond ice cream, and again, we were skeptical. But he told us that the chef had come in early to make it, so we order one to share. Again, we were totally blown away. It was delicious and we even ended up ordering 2 more.

Good food, wine, desert, service and prices. Stumbled upon it the first night and had pizza. Came back a second night for pasta after seeing good reviews on Unilocal.Both choices were great but pizza is possibly a bit more satisfying.

WOW! Stumbled in here between rain storms for a quick lunch and found a great little place! We were seated right in front of the pizza prep area, and we got to watch everything being made. We only had pizza and salad, nothing from the main menu. The wine was cheap, the salads good (so nice to have a small salad!) and the pizza AMAZING!!! Thin crust, not too soggy, fun toppings. And CHEAP! The service was great, best we had in Venice. friendly, and they helped us with the menu, as it was not in English (but come on, pizza is easy to figure out!) Way better than the pizza places along the lagoon and by the piazza!

Wie im ersten Beitrag erwähnt, ist es sehr schwer, in Venedig eine gutes Restaurant zu finden. Pizzas bieten fast alle an, doch die wenigsten schmecken wie richtige italienische Pizza. Hier gibt es sie, la pizza italiana vera, zwar ist der Boden nicht ganz hauchdünn, wie wir es gewohnt sind, aber sie schmeckte dennoch fantastisch. Gefertigt wird sie in der Gaststube, das heißt, man kann dem Pizzakoch zusehen, wie er sie beispielsweise mit frischen Artischocken belegt. Das ist selten in der Serenissima. Der Hauswein, ein sizilianischer Sirah, hat auch großartig gemundet. Für die Flasche wird 12, — verrechnet. Die Pizzas bewegen sich zwischen 6, — und 12, — Euro.
Die Brüder (und auch die anderen Angestellten) sind über die Maßen freundlich und gut gelaunt. Es treffen sich hier auch viele VenezianerInnen, in großer Runde, von denen manche auch die Pizza genießen. Ein gutes Zeichen.
Die Preise sind etwas niedriger als in der Via Garibaldi in der Nähe (die übrigens eine TouristInnenfalle ist dort wurde uns Pfannkuchen als Pizza verkauft!), als Service werden nur 10% verrechnet, was aber für Venedig wirklich erträglich ist.
Alla Fonte gehört ab sofort zu unseren Stammlokalen, wenn wir Venedig (zur Zeit der Biennale) einen Besuch abstatten.

In der wundervollen Stadt Venedig ist es zwar leicht, ganz okay zu essen, wirklich gut isst man aber selten, weil die Stadt wahnsinnig touristisch ist und der Einheimische im Stadtkern ungern speist. Zumindest war das mein Eindruck. Umso mehr freut man sich, wenn man ein Lokal findet, dass wirklich lecker und wo das Personal zuvorkommend ist. So ein Lokal ist das «Alla Fonte». Hier wird zwar nicht venezianisch, sondern sizilianisch gekocht, das aber hervorragend. Zwei sympathische Brüder betreiben das Lokal, der eine kocht, der andere ist im Service tätig. Das Ambiente ist eher einfach, die Preise moderat. Das Lokal sehend, war ich mir unsicher, ob es was Ordentliches ist, war aber dann sehr begeistert und mehrmals da. Die Pizzen sind sehr gut, noch besser aber sind die Nudeln. Besonders zu empfehlen: die Panzerotti und die Pasta Norma. Als Hauswein gibt es einen günstigen und leckeren Nero d’Avola. Fleischgerichte sind wie meist in Italien Geschmackssache. Ganz spannend ist das Schweinefleisch mit Manna, einer dezent gesüssten Sauce mit dem süssen Baumharz, von dem man annimmt, dass es das in der Bibel erwähnte «Manna» sei. Nicht nur hier zeigt sich die Küche experimentierfreudig. Unbedingt sollte man auch die Cannoli als Nachtisch probieren.
Insgesamt ein sehr gutes, für die Stadt ein exzellentes Lokal.
