Best coffee spot in Venice that we found. The Americano was out of this world and the prices were VERY reasonable. A bit crowded but not overwhelming. The baristas spoke very good English which was a bonus.

We all have our vices… some have more than others. Bob’s vice is ice cream and pizza and mine is definitely coffee. And sweets. And pasta… and many other things, but that’s not the point. After having my first taste of really delicious espresso in Rome, I was on the hunt for other delicious coffee places around Italy. In Venice we tried this place and it was absolutely amazing! Just as good(if not better) than the places I tried in Rome! These people are one of the last places in Venice to be able to roast coffee on the premises and they have been doing this since the 1930s. The place is small, there isn’t anywhere to sit except for a small bench in the front. You order first at the bar and then pay when you are through. The baristas were very helpful and nice and the prices for the quality of product you are getting are a STEAL. If you can afford a Starbucks latte in the US, you can literally have some of the best coffee in Italy for 1⁄3 of the price. It definitely feels like a place that is visited by locals, so you get a very authentic experience for an indecently low price. And for all of you non-coffee drinkers(aka: crazy people) just stop in this place and take a long deep breath in. That smell of freshly roasted coffee can convert even the most hardened of hearts, I guarantee it.

I was relieved when we found Torrefazione Marchi. I like coffee and prefer to get it from places that focus on serving coffee. Marchi is one of the few places in Venice that seems to do this right. No tourist nonsense, just a good cup of coffee for a good price. There is no seating, so you’ll have to suck down a cup at the small bar. It’s € 0.90 for espresso, € 1.20 for americano and € 1.30 for capaccino(I think). They have a lot more than that, but I don’t remember the names and prices. It’s located on the main tourist street but doesn’t have a big sign, so it’s easily missed. Keep your eyes peeled! Also, Unilocal has the wrong address, so don’t go wandering off into the residential neighborhood. Check it out, it’s a quality cup of coffee for a nice price.

The best cappuccino in Venice. No to go cup here… you pay $ 1.30 Euros and have the best cappuccino in your life, all while standing up and talking to the barista about their favorite coffee beans. Italians scough at the notion of a double, as they’ll have one now, and one later.
