The best pizza I have ever had. I love potatoes and artichokes!

Pizzeria Da Michele is a lovely neighborhood pizzeria in Mestre. It was well recommended by the host of an Airbnb that I stayed at nearby while visiting Venice. My holiday group originally decided to eat here due to the proximity to a tabacchi shop that sells bus passes to Venice. We were pleased to find a pizzeria that offered some delicious slices of pie. It’s a no frills kind of pizza place that serves large slices of pizza, focaccia style square pizza, and an assortment of extras like arancini. The pizzeria is takeaway or eat-in, with a limited number of window bar seats. I tried a traditional slice of pizza with funghi and stole a bite of the assorted funghi focaccia pie from my wife. I was quite delighted by the flavor of each type of pizza. The square thick cut pizza was the real standout, with the freshest flavors coming out with each bite. The sauces used for each pizza type are also a real winner. The total cost for both slices was around € 7 with a water, the square cut being the more expensive of the two. The slices are large enough that I was full for some time afterward. The pizzeria accepts a limited range of cards, so it’s probably best if you bring cash during your visit. I wish that more pizzerias in Venice could be like Pizzeria Da Michele. Their food offers a wide range of options using fresh ingredients at fair prices, so not only will you feel good inside, but you also won’t leave as a victim of highway robbery.
