This was our first stop after landing in Venice. The service was really good and the waiter was very helpful. Had the seafood spaghetti which was beyond yummy. I knew I was going to enjoy my stay in Venice after that meal. Overall a good dining experience.

There was a quick sun shower, and they seemed to be the only restaurant prepared for this occurrence. We popped under their awning and ordered a ½ L of wine. They were extremely helpful and my favorite Lasagna of the trip thus far.

Was in Venice for 3 days and came here everyday! The food and service is great. Everything from the pizza, pasta, house wine, and dessert are wonderful! Ask for the manager, Ricardo, he will make sure to take care of you.

We were in Venice for a day and a half. I heard nothing but phenomenal reviews on the pizza here. I began to believe it wasn’t true until I stumbled across this spot. I asked the waiter, who may have been the owner too, what he recommended. The two options he gave me were Gorgonzola and Noci pizza, which apparently means nut. I was a bit nervous about having nuts on my pizza but it was actually very good and by the far the best pizza I had in Venice. The waiter was very personable but slow seeing as how he was a one man show. If I were in Venice longer I would go back!!!

Vegetables just aren’t that popular on an Italian menu and after 10 days in Italy, it’s all we wanted. We went to every restaurant in this piazza looking for greens, kale, chard… some kind of cooked vegetable and winded back up at Pier Dickens, which offered spinach for 4,50 euro(the cheapest in the piazza). I ordered it along with(if memory serves) tagliatelle, and it was delicious! Glad we went back there. P. S. The host was a cutie! And charming!

During our day trip to Venice when in Italy for a week-long visit in March 2012, we wanted to spend some of our day away from the various tourist traps and to search out an area where locals still reside, dine, play and live their daily lives. We’d already taken in the other iconic sites of Venezia, and wanted to try to find at least one hidden gem, where we could observe what we hoped might provide a bit of a sense of the«Venezia of Old». So many local residents have moved out of Venice, and the City has become more and more of just a tourist destination that to search out what we were looking for was no easy task. To some extent, we lucked out. .. We more or less followed our nose and just walked and explored until we came upon a large open square(more of an angular rectangle really) with many kids playing, kicking a soccer ball, some Mom’s pushing strollers, and some elderly folks just sitting on benches. The square also had a few local restaurants with outdoor seating in the square to choose from. Without a trusty Unilocal review of any of these restaurants to help us with our choice, we made our decision on the basis of the menu posted on a stand as we approached. Needless to say we chose Pier Dickens. The whole dining experience here truly lived up to our hopes for the occasion as we were able to enjoy a nice Italian meal, a few glasses of wine, while just sitting back to observe the daily lives of the local Venetian residents as they passed by and enjoyed the square. For our meal, we enjoyed our selection of pasta dishes(2@ € 9 + 1@ € 8) each listed as a Secondo Piatto(second course), as well as Cappuccino, Caffe Con Latte, Acqua Minerale, and a few glasses of Vino & Presecco. This was a truly enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours. .. If you are looking for a bit of a local hidden gem, we would recommend Pier Dickens.
