Hotel L’orologio

Fantastic hotel! Great location, quiet, peaceful and extremely clean! Since it was newly renovated, it’s very modern with the best lighting I’ve seen in awhile (and I’m a lighting snob…). Staff is very friendly, complimentary breakfast is out-​of-​this-​world, and very easy walking to everything. Couldn’t have picked a better location!

We were three adults staying for two nights, and were pleased with our stay at Hotel L’Orologio in Venice. The staff was all very friendly, and we were treated wonderfully during the entire stay. Both the room and bathroom were adequate in size, and the décor /​color scheme of the room were a little funky. Wi-​fi was very unreliable — hard to maintain a connection, and very slow when connected, and you had to log back in every couple of hours which became annoying.
I ate at the bar one evening, and the meal was unfortunately a frozen piece of lasagna that had been heated for me. I did not realize that the food would not be fresher, so that was a bit disappointing. The morning buffet was just ok as well. Variety was not great, and several of the «clean» plates for us to use had dried food stuck to them, so we had to pick through the stack to find a clean plate to use.
The hotel is an an ok location, although not particularly close to most of the sights we wanted to see (St. Mark’s Square, most restaurants, etc.). However, it is just a couple minutes away from the daily outdoor market where vendors sells fresh seafood, fruit and vegetables, so that was neat to see! And not being too close to the tourist attractions made it enjoyable for us to not be constantly surrounded by souvenir shops.
Overall, we had an enjoyable stay, with a clean and comfortable room, and very friendly staff.

Great location — 10 min walk to everything. Nice quality. Good service.
The bathrooms smell like mildew and the shower doors leak water onto the bathroom floor.
The service is almost too formal… for example, we asked for a wine key to be brought to our room and they insisted that the bar tender come up himself to open the bottle of wine. It felt uncomfortable and we felt like we then had to tip him. Not a big deal but we would have rather just had a wine key.

This hotel has been upgraded very well. We were giving an upgrade to a suite. Although we stayed only one night. If my travels bring me back to Veince I would be happy to stay here again.
