Everything was delicious. Our waitress was good but you could tell some staff were running around lost. Would still definitely come back.

We had high hopes for this charmer just across the canal from Campo San Cassiano. We wanted to dine with the locals(assuming there were some) on our final night in Venezia, 2÷13÷2016, before continuing on to Firenza. Everything about the dining experience was okay. However, the next morning, my wife and I were both battling food poisoning– mine moderate, hers severe enough that we had to cancel our travel plans, extend our stay an extra night, and call in a doctor. The suspected culprit: the shellfish in the special of the day – either the clams or the mussels, or both. My wife is a big fan of shellfish, so I let her have the majority of them, and took just a few for myself; hence the difference in the severity of our illnesses. Still, mistakes can happen in any kitchen in the world, and the other dishes – the big salad, a Margherita pizza and squid with polenta – which we shared more or less equally, were delicious. The service was expectedly casual, the atmosphere was rollicking, and everybody had a splendid time. Until the next morning. So, a 5-star effort spoiled by a 0-star finish. .. I’ll average that and round up to a 3.

Amazingggggg food! Great affordable price and such a homey feel. The waitress likely is a Cuban lady that made us feel right at home! I can’t say it enough, this is the place to go. We went for lunch then came back for dinner because the food was so delicious. Meat plate, pasta with seafood, gnocchi, bacalao mantecado, and octopus salad we to die for. Great prices not a tourist trap!

After walking around all day we were pretty famished! Squid ink pasta 5⁄5 — the squid was so amazingly tender and fresh and the sauce was perfectly seasoned. Pizza with salmon and arugula 2⁄5 — this dish was overly salty and barely palatable. I thought it was going to be more lightly seasoned salmon but this was more like lox… and quite salty! Skip this one Fried seafood platter — 4⁄5 — this is a surprisingly decent sized dish with a nice mix of seafood on top of polenta. There was one thing in there that was particularly gritty and of the sea but all the other items were super fresh. If you’re sitting in the outdoor area watch out for the tiny Mosquitos! We got attacked during our meal but didn’t quite notice the extent until later… its location next to the small waterway must be harboring some mosquito eggs!

Best seafood pasta ever, al dente with the best seafood flavors. The pizza with salami picante was irresistible, had it 3 days in a row, thin crust and super creamy tomato base with high quality salami. No English menu but very friendly staff willing to assist. Easily our favorite casual dining restaurant in Venice. We will be back!

Food was fine but service was poor. Seemed like our server had problem with English Speaking guests… she seemed less than interested in U. S being there!

Ate dinner here with wife, mother, and 6 year old daughter — mostly based on the reviews previously posted here. Very solid. Pizza was excellent(very thin crust) and the pesto was outstanding! Very relaxed atmosphere and great place for kids. For Venice, excellent value for money. 4 stars instead 5 only because of the time it took to get the check, even by «laid back» Italian standards. Highly recommended and we will be back.

Good food was hard to find in Venice, largely because it was in an otherwise-quiet corner in Santa Croce. The Venetian menu was very good, and with the portions of spaghetti and cuttlefish in ink plus a quarter-liter of wine, more than enough for one person. Service was fast, but dining alone, it often is. Still, impressive considering how busy this out-of-the-way restaurant is.

Service was a bit slow the day we were there, but I wasn’t in any particular rush so it wasn’t a big deal. Very nice garden area to have lunch or dinner. Not particularly touristy, thankfully. Just simple, straightforward, and good. I had the spaghetti with mussels and clams and was very happy with the overall flavors. The pasta was not home made, but it was still pretty good. My girlfriend had the penne, which was also quite good as well. Those dishes plus bread, beer, a bottle of water, and an espresso came out to € 34 so not bad value for money either. Do wish I had more time in Venice to try out some of the other things they had on offer. Closed Wednesdays.

The prices are average, and one can easily be wooed by the idea of dining al fresco in Venice under a luscious cover of wisteria. BUT… If you choose to fill your cravings at this restaurant, I warn you to have extra extra extra patience when waiting for your check… And waiting to order… And waiting for your food… Or just don’t come here. Yeah, maybe just don’t come here. I came, was quickly seated and my order was taken(prosecco and caprese). The prosecco came quite quickly. And the caprese… Maybe 25 minutes later. I found this duration a little surprising, given that it only requires someone to slice a tomato and a mozzarella ball a few times. But, hey, it was nice out and I had the time to spare. As I was eating, I noticed several other tables becoming bothered with trying to get their check or wave down their waitress to place an additional order. This is the point where I thought to myself«Don’t be that typical hurried tourist!» So I ate slowly, enjoyed the weather, and when I was finished with everything I tried to catch my waitress’s eye. That took about 10 minutes. Then, it took another 30 minutes to actually get the check, which was punctuated with numerous glares from my waitress. In short — the ambience was good but it wasn’t really worth sitting for two hours, half of which with nothing to do but pretend to admire the same wisteria leaves over and over again…

Beautiful patio, nice if slightly efficient service, and good food at reasonable prices. In Venice it can be hard to find decent food because everywhere caters to tourists. I had the«menu del giornio» which came out to twenty euros with a drink and a little extra tip – not necessary as service is included but I was so happy to have a decent meal in tourist central I was feeling generous. There is a coperto unless you order the daily menu.

Agree with the other reviewer– you need to do your research because food in Venice is even more expensive and it’s easy to end up in a tourist trap. My partner had the veal here and absolutely loved it. I always got pasta here alternating between bolognaise and the gnocci. Of the 2 nights I was in Venice, we ate here 3 times!

This was probably one of the best simple meals in Italy and certainly in Venice. Hard to find and hard to forget, this cozy little spot had some of the best pasta and the best pizza of our trip. Before coming we stopped at the fish market by the grand canal and picked up a kilo of fresh canocchia that had already been pealed. The fish guy must have thought we were crazy Americans but we then sat by the river and sucked down about half the bag in no time. We then took the rest here and asked if they would cook them up for us which they did! They did say that next time it’s better to bring them while they’re in their shell; And here in Venice, where having a wood fire oven is illegal, we found the best pizza we had in Italy. Perfect crust, toppings, sauce, cheese, runny egg yolk, it had it all; The pesto here was spot on. It was everything pesto should be atop perfect pasta; And to top it off, the tiramisu was above par; The wife had some weird thing that was lemon sorbet with prosecco and vodka, it was so nice and refreshing! Definitely something we’ll try at home.

On a hot and sticky Thursday night in Venice, my husband, my mother and I had the fortunate opportunity of stumbling upon this wonderful restaurant. Walking from a small campo about 10 minutes West of the Rialto Bridge we found this restaurant right at dusk. Peaking in an open gate we saw tables full of people in a nice garden setting, we decided to give it a try. The place was packed and remained packed the entire night, clearly popular with locals. The food and service was amazing. Do not miss this restaurant. Takes cash only and is closed on wednesdays.

Miam!

Bravo.
