Our concierge highly recommended Tullio so our party of six went there for dinner. Unfortunately wa had a very pushy waiter. The seafood appetizer platter was fine and everyone had a good meal, but our waiter was in a hurry and quite rude. He kept upselling us for more expensive wines and multiple desserts even after we refused. Leaving the restaurant was an awkward experience. I think he was friends with some cabbies and wanted us in one of their cars. This meal was much more expensive than our other culinary outings in Rome. There is better and cheaper elsewhere, and with friendlier service.

Evening started out ok, with a recommendation of an appetizer. It was fabulous, then our meat entrees and pasta showed up faster than normal. Dolce showed up too quick, then nothing. 35 minutes with no wine or food or check. I love a good meal with wine and great service– this was not that. Go elsewhere.

Service was slowwwwww! Food was ok, but had to send the rare steaks back to be cooked. White fish was good, shrimp had eyes. Enjoyed the wine, provided a birthday cake for our party, so nice touch.

We just returned from Rome and felt compelled to tell you what a great experience we had here. A fellow foodie recommend we try this restaurant and we were not disappointed; in fact we went twice. From the amazing pasta dishes and fish dishes to the incredible Buffalo mozzarella to our amazing server Alberto who treated us great even though we spoke no Italian at all. This restaurant is no frills, not stuffy, it’s loud because there are lots of families there but it won’t disappoint if you’re looking for a great Italian meal.

We have made a habit to travel to Rome for Thanksgiving week for some time … We had a wonderful evening 18 months ago at Tullio and decided to return this year. What a disappointment :-((Food average at best…(I had never seen a green hue to caccio e pepe before…) Service average at best… Worst is that we had confirmed reservations for 9 pm and the«chief of staff» seemed confused… We were seated at a nice table and the evening was starting well :)) Then the clients seated next to us promptly started to SMOKE!!! YUK!!! We were advised by one of the patrons that we were in the smoking section of the restaurant… What BS!!! The weirdest point of the evening is upon receiving the«conto», the waitstaff promptly and without hesitation pointed to us that«tips were not included»…MOREBS… We love staying in Rome and understand that there are hit and misses when it comes to dining out, but if you are in Rome for a short stay, I would advise you that there are many other establishments kinder to foreigners than Tullio with similar menu.

My wife and I ate here last night for the 2nd to last dinner on our honeymoon. We had walked by the night before on our way to and from our hotel and the Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps, and noticed a big green neon sign that said my last name! but with an extra«i» So we made it a point to go and were not disappointed, We had the cannelloni«Tullio» and the veal Osso Bucco after our appetizers and the waiter was very accommodating to split and re-plate both dishes with a wonderful presentation of his own. Don’t miss the Cavalletti cake!

We are from NY and have a great taste for food. The staff is great, ambience is very old school Italian and the food… Out of this world! I had the spaghetti and clams and literally the sauce was fantastic. My fiancé had the truffle tagliatelle that was also out of This world. Not very touristic which we loved. Highly recommend.

My husband and I were in Rome on our honeymoon and were told by a good friend that we had to eat at Tullio while we were there. Boy are we glad we did! I was hesitant at first because of the weird Unilocal reviews but I am so glad we went with the recommendation. We arrived and were promptly seated(we had a reservation). Our waiter gave us a menu in both English and Italian which was very helpful. He took our drink order, house red, which was perfect. We ordered and our first courses were perfectly spread out from our main dishes. I had the spaghetti with pecorino and pepper-amazing! My husband had the linguini with clams that was perfectly cooked with just the right amount of salt. For our main we shared the ribeye-holy heaven it was delicious! The whole experience was relaxed and elegant. We loved our meal so much we went back on our last night in Rome, we couldn’t get enough! On our second time we actually ran into a local who we were seated near the first night who came up to say hello. You know you’re in a good place when the locals also show up twice in four days. Highly recommended!

Throughly enjoyed it. We had grilled artichokes as a starter(yummy!) — plenty for two, and baby lamb chops and eggplant parmigiana as our main courses — also outstanding. Very attentive service. Would definitely return.

The wine was great the waiter was fabulous the mozzarella was rubbery the veal chop was dry and fatty the zucchini flowers were fried in oil that had just had fish fried in it. Would not recommend.

Best restaurant in Rome for the price. Classy interior, great menu, great food, great service. Our waiter had a distinct, pleasant personality and happily spoke in clear Italian to my English speaking kids. It was well intended and hysterical. He even led my son into the kitchen to pick his own desert – a couple delicious pastries. We dined at all price points during our stay. The only other restaurant that my family really loved cost about 5x as much. This place is an excellent choice. Unbeatable.

Unfortunately, my wife was feeling a bit under the weather but we both needed to eat. Both our taxi driver and hotel concierge recommended Tulio. Old school Roman style restaurant filled with a mix of Italians and some tourists. Nice Caprese salad and beautifully fried artichokes. I enjoyed my seafood pasta and wife had the bean soup that was scrumptious. Service was attentive but not intrusive or arrogant. The waiter was able to get me a glass of wine(normally don’t serve glasses) when he saw my wife was not going to drink. The meat looked great but we didn’t order any. The desserts also looked phenomenal. A bit pricey but worth the experience of what feels like old time Roman restaurant circa 1960.

First time in Rome, hotel recommended I take my wife here after I suggested a moderately priced local italian meal. It wasn’t moderately priced and it wasn’t «local». The waitors have the restaurant’s «T» logo on their tie, the«T» is on the wine glasses, the«T» is even on the table linen. I wasn’t expecting to pay fine dining prices but we’re only in Rome for two days and I don’t mind paying for a great meal… let’s do it up! My wife’s pasta was so salty she couldn’t finish it, the«prawns» that came with it were U20+ shrimp(very small shrimp for those not familiar with that measurement)… about the same size as you’d get if you went to a grocery store in US and got the pre made shrimp cocktail platter with the cocktail sauce in the middle. My pasta was significantly saltier than expected… it was bearable, but the amount of salt that if you cooked it at home you’d likely throw it away and just go out for dinner. Our $ 10 half bottle of wine was Ruffino… glad I came to Rome, to drink Ruffino which is a grocery store brand in the US. Our dessert was the tiramisu. The first time it came out it looked as if it had been microwaved… it was actually melted and flat. I was so disgusted the waiter noticed I was upset and asked why. I asked if it was supposed to be served warm or cold, he said cold. I asked that I be served a cold tiramisu because this one was actually so warm it was melted. The second tiramisu came out, MUCH better… until you eat towards the middle and realized that you were biting into frozen tiramisu. The other reviewers were fortunate to receive a good meal, my wife and I were so completely upset that it ruined our first of two nights in Rome. Not only would I not recommend this place… I will mention that this is the first time I’ve ever left a review after about two years of using Unilocal

First time in Rome(for a conference), polled several friends for restaurant recommendations. Tullio was the best of the bunch, a cut above the rest. And it clearly catered to both Rome locals as well as the savvy tourist. I agree with some of the reviews that this place is «moderately priced». That’s if you dine American-style, ordering a pasta dish and maybe an appetizer. The Italian way you’ll be eating pasta AND a main course. I ordered the Dover sole, a pasta in cream sauce, dessert, and a couple glasses of wine and now two people are up above 100 euros. But the food in this place was clearly a cut above the rest. Obviously very fresh and thoughtfully prepared. The waiters were a little overbearing, but I would suggest this is part of the«act». They had good recommendations that were based on their experience with the chef that day. You can’t go wrong with a meal here.

Sometimes when you walk into a restaurant and ask the server to surprise you with a main course selection, you get the chef’s favorite and most delicious dish. Sometimes, you get the server’s safe bet. Since I was looking to have something more exotic than what I can get at home, I was pretty sad when the server said that he was going to bring me a steak. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good steak. But I wanted something different. I wanted the brain. Now, with the impending zombie apocalypse, I know what you’re thinking. No need to start watching the History channel for defense strategies.(really, they have shows about this… serious ones, you should check them out) I just wanted to try something that I’d never had before. I called our server over and asked him to change my order. He did a double take and said«You want calf brain?» I assured him that I did and he went on his way. I don’t know if people in general don’t order the brain or just all-American looking girls like myself, but I sure am glad I ordered that brain. It didn’t take me long to get past the texture because the garlicy buttery goodness was amazing. Kind of tasted like sweetbreads and I love sweetbreads. I shouldn’t dwell on the brain because the antipasti and mushroom pasta were delicious as well. I especially enjoyed the presentation of the caprese salad. A little individual tomato for everyone. The other stand out of the night was the dessert. I still don’t know what that cake was but our server described it as very typical Italian cake. You should not miss this cake. I’m still thinking about it. Now if I could just find the name… Expect a leisurely dining experience with lots of wine and you won’t be disappointed.
