Good station with free wifi and lots of food options! Signs are clear, and even though the station is big, it’s not very difficult to figure out where to go.

I’m sorry I have to give this station a two stars review. It has been a pretty awful situation whenever you get to Rome and are excited about meeting this beautiful city and you get your wallet stolen just before getting to Metro line A, some gipsy or Rumanian could think that is easy to get two Mexican girls their wallets off and having NO respect or empathy.
But actually the worst part of our journey at Termini station was that no one could help us, not the police or the security guys from there. All of them were there just chatting and laughing among them and they don’t understand a single word in English nor Spanish. That’s pretty sad because as tourist you get this terrible image from citizens and civilians workers as bad people, not a single security guard or police was interested in our matter.
I’m sad I had this experience but my advice is to get your wallet very protected and your bags whenever the thieves can’t reach them.

Like Janice C. said, this train station is crazy, chaotic and confusing! We took a taxi from our hotel not too far away to the train station and were on alert due to all the talks of thieves and shadiness at the train stations here in Italy. We got the station about an hour before our departure time. Like Janice said the platform number is not assigned til about 15 – 20 minutes before your scheduled departure. We booked our whole trip through Costco Travel, including our train tickets, so all we had to do was wait for our platform to be assigned. Ignore people pestering you offering to help you, ignore them if they spill something on you, keep an eye on all your belongings, and invest in an anti-​theft bag. Though, I may have not had any instances happen had I brought my normal handbags out with me, most of the time I used a $ 40 not so attractive, but functional, anti-​theft bag, and I think it was one of the best investments I made for the trip.
There’s no seating here, so we parked our luggage in front of a shop and I sat on it (no wonder Europeans get the hardshell luggages). There’s plenty of shops and eateries at the station if you have time to kill. You pay for the bathrooms and it was confusing as hell as to where to enter once we saw the platform assignment for our train to Florence, and people are rude and will just bump into you.
When you’re in Rome heading somewhere else or Rome bound, the train is a must to head to Florence, Milan or Naples. We were lucky to not have encountered any thieves or problems at the station or on the train, and we enjoyed the peaceful train ride.

This facility is huge as it is the main station for inter-​city trains coming into Rome. It is also a major subway stop. On the plus side, it is relatively clean and the infrastructure is not bad as there are a decent number of shops and eateries. On the downside, it is extremely busy and has the reputation for pickpockets. We experienced no issues but it is wise to use caution. In addition, the directions to get to the subway once in the station are not particularly good. In general, as far as large main stations are concerned, this is not the worst I’ve seen nor the best. It is adequate for the purpose it serves.

Horrible place. It’s painfully crowded and full of thieves. Best to be aware and always have a grip and an eye on your belongings. I always feel so anxious and uncomfortable here.

Tiene su encanto, pero no es nada práctica. Mal señalizada, caótica. No hay un flujo/​dirección lógico, solo esquivar a gente. No se encuentra casi nada a la primera. Los autobuses que paran en el exterior un caos también.

Our cabbie dropped us as close as he could to the station– we had to walk through a short corridor in order to reach the actual train station which vaguely reminded me of Penn Station: 18 tracks, people watching the big board that lists all of the departures, a mix of commuters, tourists, and locals, etc.
We rode the express train from Rome to Napoli via business class, and it was fabulous. No stops, complimentary drinks, and it was on time. I’m not sure how much more these seats are compared to the standard/​coach seats, but let me tell you… This was luxury. Tons of room to stretch your legs, ample room for luggage, etc. The train itself was VERY clean, air conditioned, quiet, and not crowded at all. The complimentary drinks (Prosecco, of course) and great views of the countryside didn’t hurt, either. Overall it was an extremely enjoyable way to travel south!

It is definitely the busiest station in Rome. Not only it is a subway station but it is also a train station.
There are many ticket machines; however, they are quite complicated. You have to figure out which one is for subways, which one is for train.
The price for taking the subway is cheap. If you can navigate their subway routes, you could save a lot in transportation. Many subway stops at tourist attraction spots.

WARNING: Do Not exchange your money at the termini!!! They ripped me off!!! They charged me a 100 € fee to exchange $ 500 on top of the exchange rate etc!

La estación de trenes Termini en Roma es grande, tal como se espera en una gran ciudad. No en vano de ella salen trenes hacia toda Italia.
Está organizada en dos alturas: planta baja y sótano. En nuestro caso, nuestro tren salía de los andenes situados en la planta baja, a ras de calle, donde puedes encontrar varias tiendas y cafeterías.
Abundan las grandes pantallas para poder descubrir en cada momento, qué tren ha llegado o desde dónde sale el tuyo, por ejemplo. Y durante el día bullirá de actividad.
En la planta sótano puedes encontrar, principalmente, tiendas, así como los cuartos de baño. Utilizar el cuarto de baño en esta estación, no es gratis. Prepara 1 € para poder entrar en él. De otra manera, la barrera no se abrirá. Ojo, se necesita precio exacto, pero hay máquina de cambio cerca, así que no hace falta llevarlo preparado. Y pese a no ser gratis, no están todo lo limpios que deberían. Cosas de las grandes estaciones donde pasan miles de personas.

I’ve been to Europe and Italy several times before and have been to Roma termini train station before but I recently had an experience that I want to warn people about.
My family and I was making a connecting train in Roma termini and had about five minutes to get on our next train to Naples. We were some of the last passengers on the platform and were approached by a group of 5 or 6 men aged between 15 – 25 who were telling us to stop walking and validate our tickets. It was clear that they weren’t employees of the station or train because they were wearing really casual street clothes. As we got closer to the train the men started jogging along side us yelling «get on the train, get on the train its about to leave.» So we got to our car and two of the guys got on behind us and kept pushing us on through the rows. I heard them unzip my backpack and I yelled for them to stop and I tried to turn around to cut off their access but I was stuck next to the luggage rack and the man grabbed my cell phone before I could do anything. I tried to run after him but the conductor wouldn’t let me off the train because it was about to start moving. The conductor tried to comfort me by saying «it happens all the time,» but said he couldn’t do anything.
When we got off, we tried to make a police report but the police said they couldn’t help us.
When we got off at the same platform #10 a week later the same group of men was there, «helping» passengers load and unload their bags.
Europe and Italy are still some of my favorite places and I know that pickpocketing and theft is common but I would highly suggest that travelers, especially Americans, make sure that they are aware and suspicious of those who insert themselves in the space around them. Don’t leave any valuables accessible in anyway. I’ve definitely learned a lesson to be even more vigilant.

Before using this train station we were a little intimidated by what we heard about the station. We used this station twice. First we took a train from the airport to Termini. Then we went from Termini to Venice. Here is our experience.
On the first level there are the train tracks. There are 24 of them. Each one goes to a different place. For example, track 24 takes you from Termini to the airport. Look up at the monitors, find your train number, then the time and track you destination is on. The monitors are very specific and clear. You don’t have to travel more than a 5 minute walk between track 1 and 24.
Yes. we did have someone come up to us and «help» us. I immediately asked her if she worked for the station. Responded yes, but I knew she was lying. She help and I said thank you and walked away. I did not give her a chance to ask.
The station is crowded so there is opportunity for pick pocketing. We had no problem because we were aware of our surroundings.
There are several shops and places to eat within the station. The prices are moderate to high.
All in all, don’t be intimidated by the station. You really cant get lost inside and the signs and monitors are very specific. Enjoy!

The restrooms are located underground. They are NOT FREE. It will cost each person $ 1.50 Euros to use the restrooms

Be super careful!
We were all warned about this, and it happened.
Someone threw coffee on me and immediately we knew it’s a part of scam. I ignored whoever talked to me and my colleague did the same. While I was purchasing a metro ticket, someone said my backpack was dirty, yes I know… Ignored him again. Then he offered a tissue to my colleague. He took one without moving. Then a thief offered another while he took a step back. My colleague took one step to take another tissue, created a small space between his bag and himself. His hand was on his suit case but laptop bag attached to his suit case was not.
Somehow they took his laptop bag without us detecting…
We went to the police station located near the platform 1 to file a police report. After we went inside, a officer told others standing in line that they are closed. All other victims looked confused and then she said they are closed one hour for lunch.
Terminal itself is very confusing. Took us a while to figure out where we needed to go.
Be super careful everyone.

I love the trains in Italy but I’m not the biggest fan of Termini. The building itself beautiful and there are decent food options. While they might not have the best food in Rome it will be good enough for your train trip. Rome being Rome the station is crowded and chaotic. This has never bothered me but do pay attention and watch your belongings like a hawk. Pickpockets and con artists abound here and these crowds are ideal for them. I’ve never had anything stolen and I have been here many times but I also take the proper precautions.

Watch your bags, keep an eye on the people around and get to the correct train platform as soon as you can.
Every 5 seconds there’s someone who’s asking to help you out for some euros… It can drive you mad.

Das Gebäude ist von außen (und von weiter weg) ganz nett — mit dieser Welle als Dach, aber von innen sieht sie halt aus wie jeder Bahnhof. Man findet sich gut zurecht, es gibt zahlreiche Stationen um Café und etwas zu Essen zu kaufen und eine kleine Shopping-​Tour ist sogar möglich dank Shops wie Mango und Co. Aber wirklichen Charme hat dieser Bahnhof nicht.

Had our bag picked while on a departing train to Napoli. Man got on, placed his bag next to mine on the overhead rack, then took off running with 2 minutes left to departure. Normal looking guy, totally unexpected. Somehow my fiancé tracked him down like a blood hound, sprinting down the stairwell after him. She yelled and the perp dropped my bag. Of course this reflects poorly on the train station, but just a word to the wise about keeping an eye on your bags anywhere you go!

Es una estación muy grande y lo bueno que tiene es que combina todos los medios de transporte. Allí están los trenes, el metro y los autobuses, cualquier de ellos que necesites pasa por allí. Tema aparte es que la red de transportes de Roma sea nefasta (apenas cubre territorio, el centro histórico casi no tiene cobertura, es lenta y vayas donde vayas siempre irás asfixiado por la manía de meter a 200 personas donde caben 50) y por eso yo no estoy seguro de si recomendaría hospedarse por Termini pudiendo hospedarse por el oeste del centro histórico, que está mucho más cerca de los lugares de interés.
En la estación de autobuses, que queda al aire libre, suele haber muchos puestos ambulantes de ropa y souvenirs. Dentro de la estación hay tiendas donde te venden de todo al doble de lo que vale. Los alrededores son un poco más de lo mismo, con la particularidad de que no parece que hayas desembarcado en Roma ya que salvo los usuarios de la estación el resto de «habitantes» de la zona de Termini son de todo menos romanos. Se ve que es la zona de los inmigrantes por excelencia de Roma. Esto puede confundirse con ser una zona poco segura, pero una vez que pasas varios días viviendo por allí te das cuenta de que no es así.

We ran through the station to get to our platform on time, only to discover that our train had left 5 minutes ahead of shedule. Give yourself enough time to actually be standing at your platform early and always double check the destination on the platform screen before your departure. Very disorganized and not enough ticket kiosks for such a busy station. There are scammers on the prowl here and on top of that you can’t count on finding an official worker here to help you.

The station is clean and absolutely packed during rush hour. People complain that there are thieves and the police don’t help out the tourist. It is no different from train stations in Los Angeles, in London, Manchester, or any other country for that matter. It is easy to get to the various departure platforms. I travel alone all the time and spent four days in Rome. It was perfectly safe for me there and never once felt threatened.
Biggest piece of advice, don’t be an idiot and don’t be obvious that you’re a tourist. Do your research beforehand on where you’re going or have it on a discrete piece of paper. Keep your stuff on you at all times, don’t accept help from strangers. Don’t be screaming out loud «I’m a tourist from _​_​_​_​», «OMG this is my first time in Rome», «I come from an English-​speaking country!». Act like you belong there and you’ll be fine.
As far as eating, there are many options. If you’re just spending a short amount of time in Termini Station, there are various options ranging from € 3 to € 12. Outside of the station (on either end) there are other options including cafes. There is no wifi at this station.
There are also a variety of shops, including a bookstore, at the station with items at very reasonable prices. Trust me, don’t pay more than € 2 for a cappuccino or espresso. Anything over that is ridiculous and the taste doesn’t change at all. Beware of places that charge you to sit on a chair, in addition to the price and tax of the item (s).
Overall, it was a decent experience and very little stress was endured.

Organized bands of thieves control this terminal. Police appear to be unable or unwilling to remove them. Get your ticket quickly, refuse all offers of «assistance» from the thieves and get to your terminal platform.

En esta estación se basa Roma. Cuando llegas del aeropuerto todos los buses te llevan aquí.
Es enorme, hay metro, trenes y buses. Hay muchos indigentes alrededor y como no, carteristas.
Como en cada lugar público; dentro puedes comer, tomar y comprar para llevar :)
No tiene nada especial, solo que esta abarrotada de gente.

No me convence su inmensidad, sus 25 andenes, su falta de wifi, sus interminables colas de gente queriendo comprar billetes –y es que no entiendo cómo aún las personas no se deciden a comprar los billetes en las innumerables máquinas auto-​expendedoras que hay o por internet – . No me gusta el paso inmenso hasta la zona donde dejar el equipaje que parece que fueras hasta el mismo infierno tratando con trabajadores malhumorados y cientos de extranjeros –como yo mismo– o bien perdidos o bien confusos.
Hay una librería interesante y muy grande en la que alguna vez me he entretenido hojeando páginas que apenas entiendo, o que entiendo apenas, hay cafés y hay sitios de batalla donde comer pseudo comida que pretende pasar por alimento italiano o similar, vamos, como ocurre en prácticamente todos estos sitios de viajeros.
Es cierto que por la noche esa zona no es nada segura ni agradable –especialmente la que está cerquita del hotel supermoderno 4 estrellas y del mercado – . Y digo que no es segura por la noche porque ya por el día a veces se te podrían erizar los pelos del cogote.
Termini es preciosa cuando llegas a ella, me resultan muy atractivas esas conjunciones de líneas y raíles y vías y muchos trenes diferentes que entra despacio, despacio y van reposando sus antenas mientras buscan el descanso. Termini es preciosa también mientras llegas a ella y pasas por todas esas calles y edificios que bien pudieran ser de prácticamente cualquier ciudad española. Tan parecidos somos, tan del sur, tan nuestro, tan de edificios colmena y escasos de viviendas unifamiliares.
Llegar a Termini y que todo sea eterno.

Cavernous, uninspired and bland are the words that first come to mind when thinking of Termini.
It is the main transportation link in downtown Rome where the subways lines meet (Metro Line A and B), the Leonardo Express leaves/​arrives to/​from the airport, and is where trains depart to various parts of Italy and Europe.
Be aware that when you arrive at Termini on the Leonardo Express, you are POUNCED upon by vendors, transients and people wanting money. We were forewarned by several websites that this terminal is full of pickpockets, thieves, etc and to be careful with your belongings. We didn’t observe anything of this nature, but the volume of people who approach you could be a distraction if you’re not careful.
There are several stores at Termini and a grocery store, but I am unaware of the competitiveness pricing of them as we only used the station as a transportation hub.

Roma Termini (Rome Terminal) is the largest train station in the country. Essentially Rome’s Grand Central Station. And since train travel is so common in Italy, this station is massive and absurdly crowded.
Before I continue with my review, I strongly advise people to use the Roma Tiburtina station instead of this one, as it is more convenient, less crowded, and easier to navigate.
Note to Tourists:
If you are going to get ripped off or have your pockets picked in Rome, this is the most likely place for it to happen. Just like any major city with a crowded place full of confused tourists, this is a target rich area that thieves thrive on. Watch your belongings closely, and beware of kids offering to help you, as it can be a distraction for someone else that may steal from you.
If you are ARRIVING here:
Once you get to the rail head, you will probably be overwhelmed with the crowds and the chaos. It is practically a city within the city. It doubles as a mall with a large underground substructure that is full of shops, eateries, etc. as you navigate the tunnels between the subway lines that ALSO meet here. If you walk outside of the station, you will find yourself in the heart of Rome’s congestion… in a neighborhood full of traffic, lots of restaurants (even something of a Chinatown is here), etc. You are not in the «sightseeing» area of the city, but it is extremely close to here.
Taxis and buses are just outside, but be prepared for lines. If you don’t mind the crowds, I strongly advise that you get around using the subway. Just about everything you want to see is within a few stops of here on the red or blue lines.
If you are LEAVING from here:
Ticket machines are just about everywhere, but be prepared with cash to pay for your tickets. The machines only accept credit cards that have an embedded microchip, which is common in Europe, but not in North America. If you don’t have the cash, AND don’t have a card with a microchip, you can go to one of the ticket windows in the front hall, where your card will work. But those usually have long lines.
After you get your ticket, be sure to stamp it at one of the little validation machines found at all of the rail heads. Some tickets don’t require the validation and some do. But it never hurts, and if you DO need one and fail to get it, you may face a large fine on the train.
Finding your train is usually not difficult. There are large boards with all of the information. However, once you know what track your train is at, there are a couple things to be aware of:
1) Check the board frequently. If your train has not arrived yet, the assigned track may change. I have seen many people sit and wait for a train that never came… or rather, came and left at a different track.
2) When you get to the railhead, you will see there are 24 tracks. But check your train’s track carefully, because there are also two satellite areas of the station at the far sides, about 5 to 10 minute walk away. If your track is «1 Est» or «2 Est», you will need to go to track 1, then walk way down the line until you find this satellite area. If your track is 25 — 29, you will need to go to track 24, then walk way down to this OTHER satellite area. GIVE YOURSELF TIME FOR THIS.
Baggage Drop:
If you are only here for the day, you will find a nice luggage storage facility along track number 24, downstairs.
TO CONCLUDE:
As I said earlier, I strongly advise people to use the Roma Tiburtina station if possible. It is smaller, easier to navigate, very close by, harder to get lost in, and offers trains that go just about everywhere, including the high speed trains.

A very large and busy station, which is basically the main station servicing Rome. It’s centrally located and is also a great place to catch local bus lines.
I took a shuttle from FCO and it dropped me at Termini, where I met up with a friend so that we could take the metro to her apartment. This is a VERY busy station, servicing both local (Metro) trains and regional trains.
Buying tickets at the machine was very easy. Just beware of the kids offering to «help» you buy them — they will either pickpocket you or get you to buy something you don’t need. Just kindly refuse their help — all of the machines offer English and were very simple.
There are quite a few restaurants and shops, so there is something to keep you busy while you wait for your train.
Overall, clean and basically nice. Especially considering how busy it is.

Ich kann das Argument mit der schlechten Beschilderung nicht bestätigen, das war vielleichtr damals wegen den Umbauten so. Bin dort mehrmals umgestiegen und konnte sehr leicht den Weg zur anderen Metrolinie finden. (Rom hat nur zwei Metrolinien). Das Risiko sich hier zu verirren ist also eher gering.:)
Es war allerdings nicht ganz leicht oben bei den Fernzügen den Ticketschalter zu finden. Um 7h früh waren die vielleicht noch zu. Jedenfalls kam ich dann auf die Idee das Ticket für den Leonardo Express am Kiosk zu kaufen. Und siehe da: ein unfreudlicher genervter Kioskmensch verkaufte die Tickets. Allerdings auch automatisch die teuren Leonardo-​Expresstickets für 14EUR statt die günstigeren Regionalzugtickets für 8EUR. Naja, ich habs dann genommen, weils mir zeitlich sichere schien. Bin auf dem Weg von Airport nach Rom allerdings mit dem günstigeren Zug gefahren und das kam mir auch nicht viel länger vor

Comparée aux autres gares italiennes croisées, celle-​ci est grand luxe, méga chouette. Elle est immense, avec un centre commercial dans son sein. Il y a plusieurs entrées alors pas de panique si vous né voyez pas de taxi dehors, ils sont à une autre entrée (la centrale normalement). Fatigués après un long voyage, nous cherchions justement cette entrée principale lorsqu’un monsieur avec un badge s’est approché de nous pour nous proposer son aide. j’étais sceptique mais il nous a indiqué la sortie sans rien demandé de plus.
En revanche ATTENTION !!! Si vous voyez la file à la station de Taxi faites la queue parce que certains tentent de vous attirer en disant «taxi ! taxi !» et ils demandent 40 € pour un trajet qui au final nous a coûté 7 € !!
A savoir: un trajet dans Rome excède rarement 15 €. Né vous faites pas avoir !

In den Dreissiger Jahren haben die italienischen Faschisten begonnen, diesen phantastischen Bahnhof in Rom zu bauen. Er konnte aber erst nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg fertiggestellt werden. Das Empfangsgebäude ist über 120 m lang und mehr als 30 m breit und wurde von Nachkriegsarchitekten geplant und gebaut. Die Fassade ist aus wunderschönem Travertin. Wenn man davor steht, fühlt sich der Betrachter winzig klein. So haben sich die italienischen Faschisten sich das ausgedacht. Der Kopfbahnhof ist einer der größten Bahnhöfe Europas und hat mehr als 20 Gleise. Fernzüge verbinden Rom mit ganz Europa. Die beiden U-​Bahnlinien A und B von Rom kreuzen am Termini. Der Leonardo Express zum Airport Rom-​Fiumicino fährt ebenfalls hier ab und man ist in 30 Minuten am Flughafen. Wenn man das Gebäude verlässt, sieht man neben dem Bahnhof Reste der alten Servianischen Stadtmauer aus dem 4. Jahrhundert. Einmal sind wir hier morgens im Schlafwagen erster Klasse aus Deutschland angekommen. Das war eine wunderbare Einleitung eines ganz tollen Rom-​Besuchs. In letzter Zeit komme ich immer vom Flugplatz. Das ist weniger romantisch. Ich bestaune aber immer noch gelegentlich gerne die Züge, die z. B. aus Reggio Calabria Centrale vollgestopft mit Menschen und Gepäck einfahren und diese mit Mamma Mia hier und mit Pronto dort auf die Bahnsteige entleeren.

Gare triste, mal fréquenté et sale. Bref, un peu comme la gare du nord chez nous…

Por el dia tiene mucha vida, pero es cierto que por la noche no es muy recomendable.
En la estación pueden encontrarse muchas tiendas, heladerias esta al lado de la estación de autobuses.

Es la estación de tren más importante de Roma y la cual tiene conexión con las 2 líneas de metro que existen en la ciudad así como en su exterior tenemos multitud de autobuses que nos llevan practicamente a cualquier parte de la ciudad. Hay que tener cuidado por la noche en sus inmediaciones ya que no es un sitio muy recomendable para pasear.

Der Roma Termini, der Hauptbahnhof Roms befindet sich im Nord-​Osten der Stadt in unmittelbarer Nähe zum Platz der Republik.
Der Bahnhof (ein Kopfbahnhof) besteht aus drei Einkaufsetagen (Forum Termini), in denen viele verschiedene Bars, Fastfood Restaurants und Shopping Centren zum Einkaufen einladen.
Unter dem Bahnhof treffen sich die beiden U-​Bahnlinien Roms.
Der Bahnhof erscheint von außen sehr gewaltig und verfügt über eine riesige Vorhalle unter einem geschwungenen Dach. Er ist Station der meisten Sightseeing Busse der Stadt und vor dem Roma Termini befindet sich Roms Zentral-​Bus-​Bahnhof.
In unmittelbarer Nähe zum Bahnhof befinden sich auch unzählige Geschäfte und Hotels. Ein Shuttleservice zum Flughafen pendelt für 8 EUR auch mehrmals am Tag.

Tous Les Chemins Mènent A Rome
Cette gare est immense, juste devant il y a la gare routière plus la station de métro ! Les machines automatiques né sont pas fiables (A Eviter, allez plutôt au guichet). 9,50 euros pour relier l’aéroport Fiuminicio en 30 minutes.

No es muy significativa
Esta plaza está situada junto a la estación de Termini. Encontraremos algunos puestos en los que comprar recuerdos, pero no hay más que eso. Al lado están las termas. Lo cierto es que esta plaza no tiene nada que la distinga.
