Fresh, handmade, delicious. Walk in and whatever is behind the counter is what’s available. Ordered the carbonara… told it wasn’t an exact carbonara because there isn’t egg in it. But still DELICIOUS.
Agree with those before me, they definitely prefer exact change. € 4 per dish, large portion. I only was able to finish half of mine.

So good I came here twice in my four days here. So good I’m posting this about a year after I actually came here, and it stood out enough that I had to revisit it!
It’s definitely a hole in the wall type of restaurant and nothing fancy, but it’s 4 euros for a plate of pasta and a cup (sorry, not glass) of wine. They only offer a couple of options per meal, but everything is sooooo good. The proximity to the Spanish Steps would make you think a highly rated eatery like this would be a tourist trap, but it really wasn’t. The pasta was fresh and hand made and amazing.

4 euros for a rather large portion of pasta. You can’t beat that price in Rome. Just a few steps from this place i was sold one scoop of gelato for 5 euros.
You can eat it in (with free wine) or take it to go (no free wine). The place really defines the meaning of «hole in the wall» expression. It is very tiny and very crowded all the time. So eating in would be tricky because you have no place to sit or even stand. We took our order «to go» and went to the nearby McDonalds (i know it is awful) but it was raining and we needed some warm place to sit down.
The pasta was very good. The sauce was a little bit too salty for me but overall it was good.
They don’t take credit cards and prefer the exact change. So get your 4 euros ready.

Awesome Pasta! Only serves two kinds and for 4 euro per it’s a great deal. We did take out and it was the best pasta I’ve had. I can’t even tell you what kind of sauce each pasta had, another traveler told us they make it fresh pasta daily and if you ate in they gave you free wine and water. Eating in was standing room only on a counter. it looks like they change menu often, probably what they feel like making that day. It’s a must try!

Wonderful pasta, free bottle of wine if eaten in store. Great taste and also great price. Located in a relatively convenient place. I really recommend if anyone stopped for a snack. Today I was given two choices: tuna and.

Came in 20 minutes before it was closing. They only had 2 more pastas left. Both were good for 4 euros!!! More on the OK side… But I mean cmon what pasta can beat that price!!! But best of all… They were giving out free water

We literally ran across the city to get in line at Pastificio for lunch. We arrived at 12:40 and were second in line. By 12:50, the line was down the street! The pasta bouncer had his job cut out for him. At 1:00 the doors opened and we got our delicious 4 euro boxes of hot, fresh, Italian pasta. There were no tables in the store, so we took our to-​go boxes and ate our delicious, piping hot pasta sitting on a stoop near the Spanish Steps next to many envious pigeons. Such a unique (and tasty) experience!

Todos los días cambian un menú súper económico. La pasta riquísima al estilo italiano. Tanto comer en el sitio o para llevarlo a casa un dato excelente para tener en cuenta al momento de viajar

I really loved that it was super cheap and very tasty. It was home made pasta with a good balance of what ever sauce they were using. The carbonara was better than the pesto in my opinion. If you are looking for an elaborate pasta place, this isn’t the place to go. But if you want good, fast, simple, cheap food, this place is a must!

hands down the best (and cheapest) pasta i had in rome! SO FRESH. You can’t beat four euros. We tried a tomato sauce and and then a pesto one. It was the best tomato pasta sauce i have ever had my entire life. Seasoned so perfectly and the pasta cooked a perfect al dente (I am no expert — but I found many restaurants left it too hard). I wish I could come back everyday to try all the different types they make.

Il faut faire la queue, eh oui notoriété oblige, mais selon l’heure l’attente n’est pas si longue.
Impossible de manger sur place car pas de quoi s’assoir, en revanche la Piazza di Spagna étant à 2 pas est l’endroit presqu’idéal pour déguster ce take away de pasta!

This was the best pasta I had in Rome. Their gnocchi was fantastic, and such a great value for only 4 Euro. I wish I had found this spot earlier!

Undoubtedly the best and cheapest pasta I’ve had in my life!
We made sure we were here by 12:45 pm (they open at 1:00 pm) to beat the crowds as this place seems to be super popular among locals and tourists. After a 15 minute wait (which seemed like forever though given the amazing smells that were coming from the kitchen), we were the second group to get in. They had only 2 varieties of pasta (one tomato based, another pesto based with mushroom and ham). Being vegetarians, both me and my husband got the tomato based pasta (which seemed to be the more popular one) and savored every bit of it. For the price of 4 euros each, this is without doubt the best pasta you will ever have. There is only one word to describe the tomato sauce — ‘heaven’. I could easily eat their tomato sauce pasta 3 times a day for a month without flinching — no kidding!
The space to stand (they have no chairs to sit) is very limited. Not more than 10 people can probably fit in the space. So, if you don’t get there early, there is a good chance you’ll have to do a take out — but trust me it’s totally worth it!

This is a no frills spot that offers heaping servings of fresh pasta for only € 4. When you arrive, it looks like a small retail space full of packaged goods with a few options in a hot case at the front. Depending on the time you go will determine your options. Since they tend to always have a line out the door, it’s usually limited to four at the beginning service and towards dinner only about two varieties available for your choosing.
We came on several occasions for the convenience and the price point while we were walking around. There were a lot of times where we didn’t want to have a sit-​down meal since we were trying to take in as many of the local sights as possible, so this spot fit the bill nicely. Even with the line stretching out the door, the service is quick and you can be in and out within a few minutes.
What we tried:
— Pesto pasta: Jaime liked this the best out of all that we experienced during our trip. It was good, but it was a little oily for me.
— Gnocchi: I liked these a lot, but they are heavy. If you’re not into a super heavy consistency of carbs and cheese — you might want to choose a different variety.
— Carbonara: I think this was my favorite. Not only was it semi light, but the nice bits of bacon intertwined with the noodles was delicious. Again, it’s a big portion, so when you’re reaching the end, you will encounter oilier noodles. Still good.
— Funghi: Big noodles with pieces of mushrooms inside. Perfect if you’re vegetarian, but even the meat eaters will love it. On this trip, the noodles were bigger and the sauce was on the creamy side. I loved ever moment of it.
— Pomodoro: Simple dish with marinara and chunks of tomato. Great if you’re looking for something easy and not too heavy.
You’re more than welcome to take your food to go or eat there. They don’t have tables, but a lot of counter space for you to stand and enjoy your food. A lot of the locals seemed to stop in and take their orders to go while some of the tourists opted to take their bites over towards the Spanish Steps nearby. I think they frown upon doing that… but we saw it on numerous occasions.
A huge perk is that they offer free wine and water with your meal as well. You get small plastic cups — but hey it’s free and they aren’t stingy with it. Good luck finding a better quality value while in Rome!

on first bite, you can tell immediately the pasta is homemade. pasta is thick and doughy, easily filling. my pasta came with a tasty tomato pepper sauce. from the other Unilocalers, it does get a bit oily towards the end, but you can get alot worse for 4 euros. this is not bad at all. no regrets.

What you come here for: good cheap pasta. Notice I said good cheap pasta, not the best pasta you’ll have. However, for the portion and price, it can’t be beat! So when lunch time rolled around, we got on line, got one of each pasta, went back to the Spanish steps and ate our lunch :) What a great meal, enjoying the scene below. If you’re in the area, do it! Where else can you do this? $ 4 pasta is nonexistent in NY, not to mention homemade. I’d be scared of what they put in it if they did this in NY!
Tip: They only give you wine if you eat there :(

This place didn’t live up the hype.
We went twice, and they only have one or 2 max. pasta dishes available at the same time. Nowhere is indicated what are actually those dishes, so you have to guess — and the waiters are clearly not motivated to help you out.
Now the pasta. They definitely are cheap (€ 4 for a quite large portion). They probably are fresh. But the sauces are not homemade, very oily, and turn the dishes into a canteen-​like style.
Very disappointing — try out Pasta Imperiale in Centro Storico for really homemade fresh pasta with way better service!

Klein, aber Fein. Hier gibt es nur Pasta, kalt (zum selber kochen) oder warm. Warm gab es eine kleine Auswahl, jedoch sehr lecker.

Très bon fast-​food traditionnel de pâtes, elles sont délicieuses et en quantité. Dommage qu’on né puisse pas s’asseoir et qu’il n’y ait pas d’accompagnement. Mais pour 4 euros, ça vaut quand-​même le détour.

I’d previously read about this place on Unilocal,so when we were near the Spanish Steps around lunch time, we simply had to try Pastaficio. There was quite a long line, but we only had to wait for about 5 – 10 minutes.
That day, there were two choices of pasta: tagliatelle with herbs and mushrooms in a buttery sauce, and Gnocchi with a light red (I’m assuming tomato) sauce.
I went for the tagliatelle, paid 4 €, and received a HUGE box! The pasta was al dente, the pesto simple but tasty, and a great value for money!

Great value. Great sauces and the pasta is homemade. The downside is that both of our pastas were undercooked (see photos). When you bite into it, you shouldn’t have raw pasta in the center. Maybe it was just an off-​day, or a bad batch. Worth checking out though!
Get it to-​go (take away). We took ours to the Spanish Steps and ate it there. :)

L’endroit parfait pour manger un (très) bon plat de pâtes sur le pouce. C’est 4 euros une portion plus que copieuse, avec seulement 2 choix (gnocchi à la tomate et tagliatelles aux champignons le jour où j’y suis allée). J’ai pris comme tous les Romains dans la file: celles aux champignons. Très bon persillée et aillé comme il faut. On peut manger sur place debout dans la petite boutique ou prendre une barquette et se poser sur les marches de la Piazza di Spagna. Attention, il y a la file, ça peut être impressionnant mais ça avance vite. Pour un plat bon, rapide, pas cher et une plongée dans l’Italie, parfait.

Muy buen lugar; para comer al paso o llevarte la comida… Súper económico, el plato, que es de una porción normal, cuesta 4 euros… Y si comes ahí, hay botellas de agua para servirte, o vino, pero no entendí como era el sistema con el vino…
Ojo, hay una salsa que es muy MUY picante, y no es algo que te avisen antes…

Literally the best pasta I have ever had in my life. It’s just a coincidence that the food was cheap, came with free wine and the owner is a sweetheart!
I suggest getting here 10 – 20 minutes before store opening because the line can get long. And definitely ask for wine with your pasta!

Si vous avez envie d’un bon plat de pâtes, un midi, et pour seulement 4 € sur place, courrez chez Pastificio, Via della Croce, à deux pas de la Piazza di Spagna.
Nous sommes arrivés à 13h30 et il né restait qu’une sorte de pâtes, celles au thon. C’était vraiment délicieux ! Trop, trop miam !
En plus, c’est assez dingue, mais pour 4 € vous avez le droit en plus à un verre de vin, et à toute l’eau que vous désirez. C’est 4 €, et pas un centime de plus !
Bön, pour ce prix, vous mangerez dans des assiettes en plastique et vous jetterez gobelet et assiette vous-​même à la poubelle. Mais c’est très bon, et ça vaut le coups.
Sachez qu’il est possible d’acheter des pâtes fraîches.
