I will never come back here again. I am in Rome learning Italian so I called ahead of time to make sure that there would be no confusion for when I walked in for my appointment. Well, that’s exactly what happened: confusion then arguing then disappointment. On the phone I gave my name and told them I wanted a semi-permanent manicure. But when I walked in the man simply asked if I had an appointment, I said yes, and that was the end of it. He didn’t ask my name but I assumed that since I arrived precisely on time then he knew who I was and what kind of manicure I wanted right? Wrong. He asked if I was there for a manicure and I reluctantly said yes(stupidly thinking he was just confirming). He started removing my cuticles(which I had nearly nothing so he didn’t do much work but still managed not to do a good job) and after a while I realized he wasn’t preparing my nails for a semi-permanent manicure so I asked(in my broken Italian) if he knew that I was doing a semi-permanent manicure to which he simply mumbled then proceeded to poorly apply the gel nail polish. I was ready to brush it all off because up until now I wasn’t that disappointed. So I went to pay and he says the price is 10 Euros more than what the lady had told me on the phone the day before. I told him that the lady told me it was 18 euros and that on the sign outside it also said 18 euros. He then spoke in super fast italian(not even trying to slow down so I would understand what the hell he was saying) that since I had said I wanted a manicure when I first walked in, he charged me 10 euros more for the crappy ass job he did removing my cuticles(or rather, not removing any at all) and for the«water treatment»(which basically was just resting my fingers in cold water for a maximum of 5 minutes per hand). I was beyond pissed at this point but I calmly handed him the money and said«Fine, I will pay but it’s not fair that you took advantage of the fact that I do not speak Italian and I won’t be coming back here.» He then proceeded to mumble a bunch of Italian words angrily then gave me my change. Escorted me out and slammed the door behind me. This is not merely a disgruntled employee, I searched the Nail Store on Facebook and he was in one of the pictures so I am assuming he is some sort of manager. For those of you too lazy to read my story here are the highlights: — crappy attitude from staff — crappy and incomplete service — take advantage of foreigners — pretend not to speak English even though they clearly understand you if you give a criticism — messy atmosphere — I would rather do a crappy manicure job on myself for free than pay 28 euros for someone else to do it Ciao!
