Not what we thought it was going to be but if you’re looking for a swap meet with a variety of cheap items, this is your place. No vintage clothing or antique furniture… Junkie swap meet clothes, shoes and home goods. Only good thing — Peruvian couple selling authentic Embrey clothes for babies /kids. Free entry, free parking before the entrance except a might help you park for a euro(it’s not just a local be helpful for free!). =)

I don’t see what all the negative reviews are for. It’s a flea market and does a very good job of that. I found the usual collection of t-shirts and kitchen items and also some genuine collectables. It’s a good idea to get here early. The place does fill up later in the morning.

Came here on Sunday and it was like walking into the bar scene in the first Star Wars movie. People from all walks of life everywhere! As you make your way walking down the main road filled with woman’s clothing, jewellery, iPhone cases, leather bags and most everything you can think of you the merchants are somewhat aggressive and will pounce on you if they see you interested in items. ***Be very careful as it was mentioned that this, like most places was pretty bad for pickpockets. You see people everywhere and it’s your typical not so elegant feeling market. Hold onto your belongings tight and be mindful that it’s not the safety of North America. We didn’t buy much as I found the quality to be not so great. Many stands wanted 30 euros for my wife for a fake Desigual dress. You could clearly see that the quality was quite crap also! Stay away from the iPhone cases(they want 5 euros) they are all thin plastic and poor quality! The same dress was seen at more than ten different stalls. Probably all from the same factory. We did however get two nice quality larger leather handbag purses for my step daughters. The merchant wanted 35 euros for one and 45 euros for the other so I offered 40 euros for both. He laughed at me and I told him I «come on man’! I eventually got them both for 60 euros however I felt I should have gotten both for 50 euros. My wife doesn’t like my haggling so I made it quick and efficient. When you get to the end of Portese it curves back up to Via Trastevere. This is where it looks more Flea Market«Italian style» and there are more interesting items! I’ve been to China a few times and you can grind the merchants like crazy for low prices. Here I’m not so sure so I didn’t want to offend anyone but we didn’t see much! ****I’d recommend you not take photos here(unless you are larger than 6 feet 4) as it screams«come rob me I’m a tourist»!

You can find all kinds of goods here. Converters, clothes, razors, vintage stuff(you gotta kind of search it out), and sunnies/sunglasses. Be aware of your surroundings and belongings which is common for Rome. Going to the flea market was a cool way to spend a Sunday in Rome.

Porta Portese is one of Rome’s largest flea markets. It is held every Sunday morning from about 8AM — 1PM. Here you can find just about anything you want, of course the quality is subject to change from one vendor to the next. I find this market useful when you need a pair of shoes for a single-use(I bought a pair of cheap black sneakers for a theater performance), or for clothes to wear while chilling around the house. There are also several vendors that sell knock-off electronics such as iPhone cases and speakers, but I would stay away from those unless you don’t mind the low quality. There are a lot of people who visit Porta Portese so be on guard with your wallet, purse, etc. Not everyone is out to get you but as with any crowded, open-air market, there are those who like to pick-pocket unsuspecting people, especially tourists.

i was really disappointed. i read online that this is one of Roma’s biggest flea markets. indeed it was big but didn’t find any treasures. not much vintage more like an outdoor open market for vendors to come and sell their products but most of the stuff looked like a huge wholesale place.
