We really enjoyed this place. It comes off as a typical tourist restaurant, but the service, environment, and hookah is quite amazing. Everything from the handler outside to the wait staff was excellent. The hookah was reasonably priced as well as the drinks and the food. They even provided us with complimentary snacks during one of our trips there. We loved it so much we went three times during our recent trip. However, word of caution, it is an amazing place on the weekdays. however, we went once on a Friday and it was difficult to get service. I don’t fault them since it was unusually packed, but it was different from our normal experience during the week.

The service is fantastic and the salads and lasagne looked good. The aribiata was way too heavy on the onion, oil and bacon fat. The house wine was let all that great either.

Our expectations were not high when he stopped into this spot right on Campo d’Fiori, but we were pleasantly surprised by a fine meal. Try the generous cheese plate and the gnocchi with mozzarella. Great people watching.

Great food in a great location. Pasta is superb. Pizzas are pretty good(I prefer a bigger crust but that’s a personal choice) and the service is fast and courteous.

Great place to eat, drink and smoke hookah. The staff was very friendly. If you’re in the campa did fiori area, you have to eat at maranega.

I wanted to love Maranega, I really did! I mean they have hookah and outdoor seating, what more could my heart want? Well, for starters, a beverage without a dead fly in it. :(While it may have been a solitary incident, after that discovery, I no longer felt comfortable eating or drinking at the establishment. Also, my friend ordered a manhattan, which was so far from a manhattan that she had to send it back. Upon sending it back, the bartender came out to tell us that he tried it, and it’s very good… sure, sir, that’s why I sent it back. This is one of the few places in Roma that did not show good customer service.

I was quite pleased that the food and drinks here were so good, as we had mostly experienced tourist traps in the busy areas. We happened to be exhausted and hot and meant to stop here for just a drink. We ended up ordering food and were pleasantly surprised with how tasty everything was. Serving sizes were actually decent, too. The servers were very nice and even kept moving the umbrellas for us as the sun was setting. I would definitely recommend Maranega and hope to be able to return one day.

The wait staff was very helpful, but the food was just ok. I didn’t know that they smoke hookahs, which was unattractive. I probably would have gone if I knew. The pasta with meat sauce was average and the wine was ok. Nothing to go out of your way for.

This was the best pasta I have had in my entire life. I went for lunch knowing I had a reservation for a big dinner that night. I tried to order a salad. The waiter told me there was no way he was going to allow a tourist to order a salad while in Italy and instead came out with the freshest most delicious pasta. This was two years ago. I am still thinking about it.

Good food in the most crowded plaza in Rome, definitely a place to go if you travel to Rome.

We had a very beautiful Rome trip but there was Maranega. We ordert the american breakfast and after I asked for the jam again we got a stired cup of jam(Marmelade) I ate some and it tasted strange. I saw the stirred mold(see Picture) in the jam and asked for the boss. Now the best part. He told me this mold was normal in «homemade» jam like in gorgonzola because of the old italian jar so I asked for it. What he brought was a normal supermarked jar which was full of moulded jam. He then said that if I as an american traveld the world must know the maker of the jam and that the mold is normal(there is no such thing, google it). He was surprised that I was not amarican and you could see that he feared that I would make a fuss and might be smart enough to see that he was lying.(Great attitude torwards your customers btw. :/) All very strange, 3 italian waiters arguing with no arguments and after he denied my proposal that he should then taste the mouldet jam it was all clear to me. It usually helps if you just say sorry and bring a fresh one and not try to lie your way out of it.

I stumbled across this place while visiting Campo de’ Fiori. Skeptical that it might be too touristy and not authentic because of its location, I was surprised to find that the food here was AMAZING! I ordered the Seafood Pasta(special of the day) with a glass of prosecco. It was by far the most amazing seafood pasta I’ve had. Great flavors and the sauce was flavorful yet not too creamy/heavy. The seafood was pretty fresh as well. I would HIGHLY recommend. There is outdoor seating as well so you can soak up the sun while enjoying a nice view of the Campo de’ Fiori market and people watch.

By far the best choice if you want to eat and drink right on Campo de’ fiori! Excellent service, quality ingredients, a wide variety of choices including all kinds of salads, and a willingness to vary menu items to meet any dietary restrictions you might have make this place a café goer’s paradise. The price is right and pretty reasonable for the level of service and quality that you receive. I highly recommend this place. They know how to run a service oriented quality business and are not shy about helping you make a decision when it comes to wine or food selection. This was my favorite meal that I had in Rome on this trip!

Three times here and I love it. It is in Campo de Fiori. They are a restaurant/bar/hookah lounge. All the seating is outside. Friendly staff, delicious food, good booze, and very generous prices. I will be back multiple times!

My girlfriend and I were visiting from the United States and our cab driver recommended Campo di fiori. It is a super cool area with numerous restaurants/bars/cafes. We were SO lucky that we picked Maranega. I’m a gnocchi fanatic and I had eaten it at several places on our trip in Rome. I was going to order something else but couldnt resisit. I’m SOOOOO glad I had it. It was SUPERB! The American Style Martinis were great as well! The owner checked on our table and made sure we were all having a great time and that the food and service was great — which it was! I would defnitely go again on my next trip to Rome! I miss that gnocchi!!!

Maranega is wonderful outdoors in the middle of Campo di Fiori. Any seat you get outside will be in good view of the outdoor atmosphere and random performers that stroll into the plaza. The service is really good. The greeter at the front is very smiley and welcoming and helped us with our reservation.(Even without an RSVP, there are a ton of tables outside). Our waitress was very tourist-friendly and was laidback – she even hooked me up with free wifi, as I was struggling to get some things done on my phone. The salad was rather large, split to taste between 4 people. It was very good, and well-balanced with sweetness from the grilled oranges and mildness from the mozzarella. The pesto pasta was so nice, with very fresh pasta and potent basil. It was also on a bed of arugula, which added some extra nuttiness to the dish. The pizza was good, but not the best neopolican that I’ve had. I’d stick with pasta here, it seems to be their better specialty. The tiramisu was very fresh whipped, but tasted more of the cream than any actual cake. I would have appreciated some more cake for textural balance. If you are planning to hit up Fiori, definitely try out Maranega. Their menu is very large with English on it, and the vibe here is wonderful.(Don’t forget to hit up Flor gelato next door after.)

Located in one of the most popular nightlife spots in Rome, Maranega is the perfect combination of a restaurant, a lounge/cocktail bar, and a cafè. Open from early morning, it offers a delicious continental breakfast, and during the day you can enjoy both Italian and American coffees together with a fine selection of cakes and pies. Don’t miss the opportunity to eat lunch or dinner while watching the daily Roman life at Campo de’ Fiori, or simply to stop for a drink. Maranega is «my favorite spot in the Campo» and I absolutely recommend it.

Mille grazie:)
