Horrible dining experience in Rome for NYE. This was truly the worst meal and evening we had during our entire trip! Service was beyond rude and insulting: 20 minutes for menus, no greeting, 40 minutes and 2 requests for water, 3 pieces of bread for a table of 8. Wine was overpriced. Server stated that they would not make a cocktail since it was a «busy night» and handed us a Prosecco(when the bill came we found that it was 20 euro/glass…hysterical!). I could overlook all this if the food made up for it, but it sucked. «Homemade» ravioli with ragu was bland and was topped with what resembled dry beef crumbles. Lobster pasta was fishy. Octopus was non-existent in the octopus appetizer. Just gross. Huge let down, especially at the price point. Yuck.

We each tried several appetizers, entrees, and desserts, and each was better than the last! We especially enjoyed the beef carpaccio and the eggplant cupola – these were very well-imagined and skillfully executed dishes. Also a hit was the tripudio di cioccolato for dessert. Ordering bartender’s choice was the way to go: He crafted an interesting and delicious rum-based cucumber cocktail with a splash of sambuca. The interior has a lively, stimulating feel, and the modern lighting and artwork provides a thrilling contrast to the Roman architecture of the neighborhood. We didn’t get a chance to try the table of tapas by the bar, but this will certainly be our first stop during our next visit – which can’t come soon enough!
