Not quite sure if this place goes by Leon or Ristorante Pizzeria Vineria, but either way it doesn’t matter; the food is to die for! Came in for dinner and was happily surprised by how good the food was! I ordered the Carbonara and my guy ordered the filet with oven roasted potatoes. Everything was cooked perfectly! I paired my pasta with a great glass of red wine and he had a beer on tap. Once we finished with our meals we ordered the tiramisu which was the perfect way to end our meal. If you’re out and about in this area, you definitely need to eat here… and if you’re not nearby, make the trek over here because it’s totally worth it! The service is great; fast and friendly. The atmosphere is fancy while casual and cozy. This place deserves more reviews because it’s a great place for a glass of wine and meal to unwind from the Rome chaos.

This was a nice place for a lunch date. The reason I’m subtracting 1 star is because — well, I had really high hopes for authentic Italian food. This was my first lunch in the whole of Italy — ever — & I knew what I was looking for. At least I knew I wanted my tastebuds to explode with surprise. They didn’t. The reputation of authentic Italian food(ala Roma) precedes it. Maybe this led my expectations to soar beyond reality. Maybe I wanted to experience the same fare Julius Caesar enjoyed in 85BC, or something. I mean, sure, this isn’t the St Regis or Westin Excelsior, but I still expected the food to be better — it simply failed to meet my expectations. This wasn’t the case with another restaurant where we chose to eat dinner(which I likewise reviewed here on Unilocal), on our last night in Roma. We loved the food there. The food at Leon wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t spectacular, or mind-blowing. We ordered 2 antipastos & he had a plate of some green pasta(spinach, or something). I had ravioli & tasted his order. Nothing was too memorable. Well, OK. I remember thinking the food wasn’t that good. PS(hehe) Maybe we just ended up ordering the wrong things. The service(& the coffee, as expected) were great & we loved our al fresco seats :)
