Just wow. I tried the strawberry tart and the caramel éclair and both blew me away. The choux pastry on the éclair was so light and airy you wouldn’t have expected it to be filled to the brim with delicious creamy caramel custard. How it remained so crisp and not soggy, I’ll never know. The fresh strawberry tart was a clear winner once we cut it open and saw that the bottom of the tart crust was lined with a delicious layer of pistachio frangipane. I’m drooling as I type this. I don’t know how or why, but European bakeries just get it right. Better to not ask anymore questions, just need to figure out when I shall return to wipe them clean of their pastry case…

Beaaautiful bakery and café with delicious quiches and paninis and all lovely baked goods and pastries you could wish for! Adorable girl working the front, so cheery. Passionfruit and chocolate macaron — the best! Mmmm

Le Levain bakery in Roma has been opened 22 days. Lucky for me it is around the corner from where I am staying in Roma(Trastevere). I was excited to find a pastry shop so closeby with high caliber pedigree. Giuseppe Solfrizzi is the pastry chef who worked for Alain Ducasse in Monte Carlo, France & Tuscany. A beautiful modern shop with a showcase highlighted by the beautiful parties, cakes, bread. Yes, there is bread(baguettes, loaves of brioche sfogliata). Macarons in a rainbow. I loved the choux vaniglia lampone(2.80 euro), Escargot with crema, Sneken with almond pieces. What is exciting is that Luigi is making a «lighter» pastry for the weight-conscious pastry lover. The pastry has a clean finish. No heavy butter or artificial fatty after taste. Incredible!!! This will be a huge hit so get here fast and try their goodies… Best eaten fresh out of the oven.
