Food was good but for two of us eating lunch with no alcohol it was over 70 €!!! Was one of the most expensive meals we ate in Italy for what we got– owner was friendly and nice just way over priced/crazy fees??? Shame cause it could be a very nice place to eat, but wouldn’t go back due to the«tourist fees» added on to the bill.

This place was a scam! They charged us an 8 € fee to sit down at a table. RIDICULOUS. Food was ok but definitely not worth being scammed into paying several fees.

High prices & Too many fees! Go elsewhere! We ate here the last day of an 18 day Italy trip. We are familiar with coperta & in Rome it seems some places have a coperta plus a service charge. So we go into this place & the menu says € 2 for bread & a 12.5% service charge. Ok fine. Typically a coperta covers the bread & no coperta was listed. They don’t ask if you want bread — they just bring it. but we knew that. You can wave it off but we wanted it. The water was a euro more than anywhere else. A beer € 5 and a spritz € 8! Seriously? The food was good though, i will say that. But so is the food everywhere else! It was no better or worse than other places. The bill comes & it has the bread fee, 12.5% AND some other mystery fee– coperta? So a € 42 bill was € 52. I don’t mind tipping for excellent service but to be scammed with all these separate fees is ridiculous. This is the only place we went to that did this.

AVOID– THISPLACEIS A SCAM! As a professional traveler I have eaten all around the world, so was excited for some authentic Roman goodness. I visited La Tavernetta with my colleagues who are also professional, comfortably paid travelers and eat out everyday. We also visited this restaurant on the last day of our 8 day visit, so feel I can justly give this review. The food was good, but were charged more here than any other restaurant we visited during our stay. We got less food, charged for bread(when we didn’t ask or want any), water was more expensive than anywhere and the service was sub-par. Everywhere else we visited had better, memorable food, nicer enviance and far better service than here. Besides the food, the owner/manager/mobster insisted the 12% service charge was tax only and wanted a tip on top of that! We had to mandatorily comply since we didn’t want to start trouble in another nation. Don’t come here, and don’t go next door– both places are owned by the same families! Save your money for better quality the whole way around. We all feel ripped off, violated– and sick to our stomachs.
