Très petit restaurant tranquille! Personnel extrêmement sympathique! Les fleurs de zuchini sont délicieuse! Portion très généreuse, abordable et excellente! Bref je le recommande à tous!

Incroyable restaurant.

Lovely place with a very laid back atmosphere. Family run and with a warm service which was fantastic. Had a great night and were so well taken care of! The food is wonderful, great price level and HUGE portions. We had two starters, caprese and bruschetta pomodoro and it was literally a meal in itself for two people. Two large balls of fresh mozzarella is a loooot. Great homemade pasta. Had the vongole and it was perfect. We ordered the house wine(red, 1L) at a good price, and actually got a bottle to bring home with us for free at the end of the night, how great is that? My only regret is that we didn’t order the tiramisu with fresh strawberries, looked heavenly, however the pannacotta was nice as well. We visited on January 4th and wanted to make a reservation to come back the day after(since the place is tiny), but they are now vacation closed until Jan 25th so make sure to stop by att Botticella after that! You won’t be disappointed.

This little restaurant is not going to be your typical tourist trap fare — it is tucked too deep down an alleyway off of main walkways in Trastevere. I admit though that I found the restaurant through a Conde Nast list of recommendations. When we walked it at 730 we were the first to arrive that evening for dinner. And subsequent tables were all English-speaking. So, lo and behold the power of lists. And yes I feared I had been misled. After reviewing the menu, we decided to put ourselves in the hands of the proprietress, with just one or two specific requests. First your usual basket of bread. Then a platter of three appetizers. Followed by a platter of three pastas. Followed by a platter of meats. Followed by dessert. And a sorbetto-vodka drink and a limoncello. We practically had to be rolled out of there. Standouts include the homemade ravioli, the rabbit and the lamb chop. Also the fish! Oh and I remember a bite of something with a surprise of anchovy — but so well-prepared that even the fish-averse in our group liked it. For the dessert their chocolate hazelnut was the best. Oh and both dessert drinks were absolutely delicious. Although we ordered off menu, they were more than fair with the price. For a group of six, it came to about 50 € pp(that includes three bottles of wine). As for the service, I have not been impressed by the warmth of service in the Eternal City. This place ranks as one of the better experiences for sure! Oh, and by the end of our meal, the real Romans had finally started arriving for dinner ;)

This was my favorite place of the entire visit. It was a small restaurant that opened at 7:00. They get booked, but luckily my husband and I were super early and it was just the two of us. The food was excellent and the lady who owned the place was very nice. for as much as we ate and drank our bill was under $ 80 we had 2 bottles of wine, appetizers, salad and a main. The salad she makes is incredible. The fried artichokes, mussels, zucchini blossoms and veal were all so good.

This restaurant is definitely a hidden gem among so many restaurants in the area, mostly all being larger and overpriced. The house wine was very good. We got spicy penne, it was excellent! The bread they gave us was very soft. The caprese salad was good. We were too full to have anything else. The staff is very attentive and helpful. Very homey. They aren’t about rushing people in and out but making everyone comfortable and being super hospitable. Its a tiny space but very cozy. Great experience ending with them putting our jackets on us…

We came here based on other great Unilocal reviews and weren’t disappointed. The food is really good and the house wine definitely the best house wine we’ve ever had. We shared the Fiori di Zucca and bruschetta pomodoro for starters. The deep-fried zucchini flowers were tasty and salty and heavy, and the tomatoes on the bruschetta rich in flavor. The pasta dishes, Gnocchi with Gorgonzola and Penne all’arrabbiata were well balanced in flavor and actually complimented each other really well.(We kinda share a lot) The spiced penne seemed light and strong and having a couple of gnocchi after, the creamy cheese seemed to soothe the spicyness. Our only gripe was that the portions were too large. This may seem a little spoiled, but it’s what kept the last star out of the rating. A large part of eating a good meal is the balance of portion size. Using that last pasta to scrape up the remaining sauce and feeling the sugar craving that makes you look forward to desert. We couldn’t finish the pasta and felt a little bad for it, and were even too full to try any of their desserts. We were offered to bring the leftovers home, so if you’re on a budget this might be perfect for you. All in all a really nice evening and good service.

Bonsoir à tous, Un restaurant vraiment super !!!

Love the food here! We stayed near by and were excited to try this place. The waiter is nice, spoke good English. The owner/chef takes her food seriously and personally. We got fried artichoke, truffle ravioli, oxtail, and muscle/clam plate. That was a lot of food for 2, but we finished everything. My husband loved his truffle ravioli, the best ravioli he has ever had, and did not want to share with me. The oxtail was so tender, and came in generous portion. I felt like I may have a heart attack after the meal, but it was too good. I never had fried artichoke before, it was cooked well, and flavorful. Muscle/clam dish is excellent as well. I really can’t find anything bad to say. The price is fantastic for the generous portion. It may be better if you come in a group to share different dishes, but the restaurant is small and can only accommodate 25 – 30 people at a time.

We had some pretty spectacular meals in Rome, but this might just be the best restaurant in Rome. The food is so amazingly delicious. The service is very unAmerican, Julia who runs the place takes everything very personally. She will take care of you like you have come to her house. She gets offended if you don’t like the food and will try to feed you more than you can ever possibly eat Start talking to her and you will get to hear some really amazing stories. She is very generous and kind. But you go to a restaurant for food, and food at this place is magic. We started with the zucchini flowers which were fried with some cheese and it was outstanding. A must have. My friend had the chickpea soup, I didn’t think that could be great but it was unbelievably good. I had the Cacio e Pepe, which was the best I have ever had and then the lamb cacciatore. After eating that much I couldn’t have dessert which I regret. We also ordered sautéed chicory, which was very good. When we couldn’t finish it, Julia refused to charge us for it or pack it up for us to take home. She said I will eat it and took it away. We also shared a litre of house red wine between us, which was good. At the end of the meal we stayed at the restaurant for a long time talking to a couple in the next table and Julia. She gave us too many limoncello shots before we left. Finally when it was too late and we had to go she gave us a bottle of house wine to take with us. So we left with huge smiles on our faces and our bellies full. This place is an experience. Huge portions of really delicious home cooked food. It doesn’t get better than this. There is no other place I would eat in in Trastevere.

To start I want to say that when I first tried to visit this restaurant we were turned away from a completely empty place for not making a reservation. Because of this, and the over-done(to the point of sounding fake, forced, or paid) positive reviews, I was very skeptical about my visit, but had to give it a try. With all this in mind I am extremely happy with my experience and am glad we gave it a try! Though it is not the absolute best food you can find in Rome(as some other reviewers have claimed), it is definitely up there and the amount of food you receive on top of the quality for the price is outstanding! We ordered the mussels to start(delicious with plenty of meat and almost no meatless shells) I shared a dish of the Amatriciana(which was cooked to the most perfect Al Dente I’ve ever had) and I ordered the oxtail(which had the most tender meat you could imagine). Quick disclaimer: It was impossible to finish all this because the portions are huge! Additionally the bread was great(very crunchy crust with a soft center, just the way we like it!) the house wine tasty(though slightly pricier than other restaurants I’ve been to around here) and the complimentary lemoncello at the end really sealed the deal. On top of all this, the service was amazing: not once did we have to call our server to the table to get something; he was already there with it before we could think to ask! Needless to say I’ll probably be back before the end of my time here

This low key restaurant has some of the highest quality you could has for in Rome. There’s a woman who runs the front of the restaurant like a boss. We had amazing service despite there being one waitress for over 7 tables. It’s small and cozy, very typical italian ristorante feel. The food is incredible! The mozzarella comes with fresh baby tomatoes. We ordered the gnocchi as an appetizer and wow. The depth of the cheese and succulence of perfectly cooked gnocchi is to die for. I had the ox tail and my fiancé ordered the veal. Both yum, but other tables were getting the rabbit plate and it also looked amazing. Overall this is an incredible restaurant and I highly recommend to anyone on Rome for the first time!

Conclusion?

Went there tonight based on these Unilocal reviews… major mistake can’t help but think they are all paid reviewers!!! Ok so the good news. It’s good value. Portions were way huge, come on it’s not a chilis in Alabama. The bad news, it wasn’t good so I didn’t eat it and the waitress was mad at me. Sorry but If there were any more salt on the chicken cacciatore I would have shriveled up. The spaghetti pomodoro was good even though the local woman who sat down at the table next to us had obviously homemade noodles in hers versus our box noodles. The salad was some lettuce and tomatoes and carrots in a bowl with no dressing. Fine throw some table oil and vinegar on there and it’s ok. But not anything what we expected based on the reviews here saying«it’s my favorite restaurant in the world» are you kidding??? It’s not the best restaurant on the street. And it’s the only one. The location is nice though as it’s definitely off the beaten path in the over the top trendy bohemian neighborhood of Trastevere. Maybe we just ordered wrong and every other dish on the menu is fabulous. I doubt it but I want that to be true cause it is a neat spot. Just too bad our meal was awful. Thank goodness for the great house wine to ease the pain. Good luck to those non locals who continue to try this place.

They say you can’t have a bad meal in Italy. This is mostly true, but with a little bit of planning you can make sure every meal is outstanding. Thanks to a bit of Unilocaling I had dinner at La Botticella one night and my boyfriend and I agreed this was our best meal in Rome. La Botticella is around the corner from a busy square in Trastevere. The quiet street makes for a pleasant dinner al fresco, not to mention I think it helps with the crowds. The Trastevere neighborhood has a very active nightlife. I would recommend heading to one of the many bars after enjoying a leisurely dinner. Prices are very reasonable and every dish I saw exiting the kitchen looked phenomenal. You really don’t need to spend a lot of money to eat well in Italy. Along with the house red wine, I had the pasta cacio e pepe and the chicken in white wine sauce. The chicken fell off the bone and was exploding with juices and flavor. The cheese on the pasta was bold in a good way and I found myself eating it to the point where I needed to loosen a pants button.

This is really a wonderful treasure in the Trastevere. Delicious food. Good value. Wonderful service. Everything we tried was delicious. Particularly, the Gnocchi Gorgonzola and the mussels and clams. We ate the peach and cream Cake, we share and it was perfect and awesome. We got Limoncello at the end, and enjoy the whole meal. We got here early on Sunday afternoon but when we were leaving, two hours later, the place was packed. We will definitely be back when in Rome! Thanks Julia!!!

Foncez !

Hidden off the busy streets is this amazing little restaurant tucked in a narrow alley. I never would have discovered it had it not been for a friend who took us there. La Botticella is the perfect place to experience Italian food and hospitality. I knew it was going to be a wonderful evening when the owner/chef came to greet us and tell us the specials. Soon after, the wine was flowing and you could hear laughing and singing coming from the restaurant echoing into the picturesque alley. We started with a trio of appetizers: the tempura style fried vegetables, consisting of zucchini, onion, red pepper strips and yellow squash with just the right amount of seasoning. The fried artichoke was crispy and delicious and unlike any I’ve had before. The zucchini flower came stuffed with mozzarella and anchovies, then breaded and deep fried. All were excellent. I opted for the Penne all’ arrabbiata made with a spicy tomato sauce. It was delicious, but even better was my friend’s dish of spaghetti alla carbonara with bacon, eggs and pecorino cheese. It was heavenly! As if that couldn’t be topped, one of the specials of the night was equally impressive. I can’t remember the name of this one, but it consisted in tender slices of beef cooked in a superb red sauce. Everything was so good! Highly recommended, but do plan ahead. The place was packed on a Wednesday night, so be sure to make reservations.
