My favorite ice cream in all of Italy. Love the cookie and the cone. Vanilla is delicious and it’s just vanilla! They have other desserts in the fridge if you’re feeling adventurous.

Hands down one of the best gelato in Rome (tied with La Romana). The gelato is super creamy, and they have flavors like pistachio, dark chocolate, coffee, tiramisu cream, almond, and so on. There’s only around 9 flavors, but that’s probably why it’s so good. I got the coffee and the dark chocolate, and this might have been a bad choice if I didn’t get the whipped cream on top! Both were bitter but super, super, super thick, creamy, and flavorful. It was amazing. Towards the end, it got a bit sweet, but it was delicious. The whipped cream is thick and perfectly complements the gelato. Highly recommend!

Simply the best gelato in the city and worth the walk. The owner was so kind and allowed us tastes of several favors. We enjoyed one Stracciatella and hazelnut as well as a Nutella and pistachio. Absolutely say YES to the homemade cream, so rich it was as if you had a third flavor. The cone cups were also more flavorful than any you will eat in town. No seating but you’ll want to take a moment on the small bench outside to enjoy. 4.5 euro for two.

The very best asset of this place is its owner. He is super friendly, laughs at your non-​Italian accent, and will advise you on the best flavors to get according to your tastes. It was great to meet someone so nice with tourists in Rome, a beautiful city atrocious with its visitors (and I’m from Paris, so I know what I’m talking about ;))
Gelato is very good, even if a bit too sweet for some flavors. Try out the pineapple sherbet, it is amazing.

Si pasáis por Roma os recomiendo tomar un helado en Il Caruso. La producción es artesanal y tienen helados riquísimos en cono, copa y cestino (cesto de barquillo) y baratos. Uno de dos sabores sale por 2,25 euros y la cantidad es más que generisa. Dependiendi del mes, elaboran diferentes sabores.
No es una heladería turística, de hecho su ubicación está alejada de los circuitos turísticos. Los empleados son muy amables y divertidos.

This was my favorite place for real gelato in the Termini area, and here’s why:
1) No line, at the same time that other establishments very close by had long lines around the door
2) Great guy running the spot. We asked him what his favorite flavors were and he responded by saying, «This one is the best… this other one is the best. This flavor is the best» which was super cute english.
3) Excellent gelato. I loved their unique, creamy and fresh flavors. The creamy melon was a favorite, and all their different white/​vanilla-​esque flavors really shined. I liked it more than nearby spots, also b/​c it was easier to order.
You get the fresh cream and the little cookie, which was great, though the cone wasn’t as special and there was no chocolate filling in the bottom. Those are things I’d gladly give up to be able to understand a menu easily and not have to wait in line, but that’s just me.

Really delicious gelato. The flavor really came through, and the texture was sublime. It was a relief to go to a residential neighborhood, and eat with Italians. Take your time, sit on one of the benches outside, and watch the world go by. What a treat!

We originally tried to get into La Romana but the line was around the block, so we gave I Caruso a try since it also had great ratings on Unilocal and was just around the corner. I had the chocolate fondonte and it was delicious. Smooth, creamy and rich flavour. Did not disappoint. If you don’t know what the flavours are from looking at the menu, you have to take a guess. The gelato all have covers on them and the line was 10 people deep, so not a lot of time to ask too many questions without ticking off the line behind you. But i imagine all the flavours are quite good so you probably cannot go wrong with whatever you order.

Best Gelato I’ve eaten in Rome (and I went to about 8 different places in three days in Rome). I wish this was closer to the city, as it is pretty far out from the «center» of Rome. However, I went here twice, as this place does artisanal gelato (each of their gelato is made in small batches) rather than the more well known places such as Giolitti. Being artisanal, however, it’s a little more expensive than other gelato places, but it’s so worth the trek and the extra $$.
While people rave about the creamier gelatoes (such as the zabaione or the chocolate), DO get the fruit flavors. I don’t know how they did it, but they pack so much flavor in their gelato that you’ll be amazed at the amazing fruit flavors!

In our quest to find good, real gelato in Italy (and avoid the turist traps) we have followed some expert recommendations and have found really amazing places, but nothing compares to this. The pistachio is the best I have ever tasted, and the mandorla flavor (almond) is out of this world. Definitely worth the walk!

100% Best Gelato I have ever eaten in my life. Please go here, and then come here again, and again and again. I was so lucky that my hotel was literally steps away from this place when I visited Rome in early September. The flavors here are so intense and refreshing, it truly is an amazing concoction. The employees definitely know how to speak English, and will guide you through the flavor chart. I believe they make the gelato right next door/​in-​house which is wonderful.
There was lots of chatter about «fake gelato» while I was in Italy — gelato made from powder instead of real ingredients, but I can assure you this place serves REAL GELATO, and it will be the best gelato you have EVER HAD.
Please please please get the Siciliana flavor which is ricotta with chocolate chips and dried fruit, I wanted more and more and more of this. It’s so refreshing, and light — really an amazing combination!
I wish I could fly back to Italy just for this…

Don’t pass up any opportunity to go here. Over the top with flavors. Dark chocolate is out of this world. Lemon, strawberry were fantastic. Somewhat off the tourist paths, this is a favorite of locals. Don’t miss on any trip to Rome.

Fantastic! So glad we walked over and sampled their gelato. I tried the strawberry and my wife had the vanilla. Can’t wait to go back.

Looks like my first review from Sunday didn’t post till Thursday. Been here every day since except yesterday (because we ate too much dinner). Tried tiramisu, strawberry, dark chocolate and lemon. All were delizioso … Wish they had a place in New York.

Gelato!!! One of the best gelateria in Rome! They don’t have many flavors and your won’t see the gelato displayed. I got strawberry and vanilla. It was rich, creamy, and soft. It was soo good! I believe it was about 3 something euro for a medium. I guess that’s quite normal for Rome. Another gelato place that you should hit up!

Agree 100% with Flavio, one of the best spots in Roma, near my house so I love it :) and yes a must is the «panna zabaione» gotta try it :)

A hidden gem, out of the tourist tracks but still pretty central. An artisanal ice cream made in a completely visible lab, separated by the sales area by a glass wall only. There aren’t too many flavors, but their quality is really high: don’t miss the Sicilian pistachio and other creams, and try the excellent «panna zabaione», a delicious eggs flavored whipped cream which is worth the 50 cents supplement on the cone’s price.

Das Caruso haben wir durch Zufall beim Schlendern entdeckt. Schon allein die Optik der kleinen, mit Schokolade überzogenen Eis am Stil ist eine richtige Schau. Zudem kann man durch ein Schaufenster bei der Eisproduktion zusehen.
Mit zwei Euro pro Eis am Stil ist die Portion zwar nicht billig, aber die Kombinationen (z.B. Schokolade-​Pistazie oder Nougat-​Zabaione) sind hervorragend. Zudem gibt es die Sorten auch noch pur in der Waffel oder im Becher.
Sitzgelegenheiten gibt es nur draußen in Form von drei kleinen Bänkchen. Gerade richtig für einen kleinen Eis-​Snack.

Mille Grazie für diese Entdeckung!!! Eine kleine Eisdiele, die überwiegend von Einheimischen aufgesucht wird und sich deutlich von allen anderen Gelaterien absetzt. Durch ein großes Fenster kann man der Eisherstellung zusehen und es werden ausschließlich natürliche Rohstoffe verwendet. Ein Teil des Eises wird dekorativ am Stiel in großen Gefrierschränken angeboten, darunter Sorten wie z.B. das Nonplusultra. Eine Portion Pfirsicheis schmeckt wie ein ganzes reifes Kg dieser Früchte. Das Nutellaeis ist eine Wucht in Tüten und das Limoneneis läßt einen vor Wonne die Augen zusammenkneifen. Ich haben noch NIE solch ein gutes Eis gegessen. Dazu ist die junge Bedienung ausgesprochen freundlich und gibt auch gern in Englisch Auskunft über die große Eisvielfalt. TOP!!!
