The best bakers in Testaccio, hands down. If you’re living in the area, it’s a great spot to pick up the daily loaf, and you have a pretty good choice here from local favourites like «pane lariano», to prokorn and other rye /​cereal mixes, as well as Italian lava bread, rolls and cobs.
This is also an ideal spot for pizza by the slice, baked here freshly, with a huge variety on offer. Naturally, Farinando stays open at lunchtimes and if pizza by the slice isn’t your thing, you can also get small snack pizzas and even a porchetta sandwich.
The confectioner’s counter is pretty good too — lots of biscuits and cakes on offer here, although the prices are high. Excellent seasonal products can be found here however, especially at Easter and Christmas.
The handsome fridges at the back are also full of milk and other food items so it works as an emergency shopping spot in case you run out of pasta or Nutella. The staff are friendly and manage to serve long queues keeping everyone in a fairly good mood! Recommended.
