As a beer lover in wine country, Domus Birrae was a nice reprieve from the grapes. My Italy vaca was nearing its end and it was time to stock up on bottled booze. A local had recommended this shop the night before while at a beer bar, so we carved out time in the day to make a pitstop. We first tried to visit around 11 a.m., per Unilocal’s listed hours. They were closed. We checked next door at the shopping mart, and the cashier confirmed that they would be opening at some point. Later on, I called and, after a muffled conversation, confirmed that they were open for the day. I’d rec calling if you plan to go early or late since Unilocal’s hours might not be correct. The shop itself has a refrigerated section up front and a «showroom» of temperate bottles in the back. It’s not a huge selection, but they do carry quality beer from Italy. We found a range of LoverBeer and Del Borgo bottles in stock. You can even find some rare international bottles. I happily left with four bottles that would be quite hard to find in the States… for a good price. Success!

Yes they might be a little pricey compared to your Angelo Poretti Treluppoli but the selection is unbeatable. They get more Rogue Ales than I could ever dream of and I am based out of the United States. Staff is super friendly and was quick and confident in his recommendations of a stout and pilsner made in Italy.

I happened to walk past this store on the way back from the Colosseum and popped in for a look. They had an awesome range of beers, both international and Italian. They were very friendly and helpful in recommending an Italian IPA and an Italian porter, and spoke excellent English. Reasonable prices for micro brewery beer too. I’ll be going back for sure.
