Doc is a supermarket in Rome, I think this is an individual chain as search results end up coming up with no «big» company, but still this is quite a good, big supermarket, which surprises me if it is independant. Doc seems to be supplied by «Coop» which is a big brand supermarket in Italy, and although they sell branded products, they seem to sell«Coop“‘s own brand as well. I guess it is the kind of agreement Ocado(online supermarket) have with Waitrose in the UK(my home county) but don’t hold me to that. This supermarket is one of the biggest I have seen while in Italy, as well as having standard isles, it also has a large booze section, a deli and a cheese counter. They is no scan it yourself tills, just standard tills, the staff didn’t really seem to speak English but this didn’t matter. This supermarket really is in «the middle of nowhere» and is just down a road, past a few houses and a few blocks of flats, and if you are trying to find it as a tourist, it feels like a empty passage and like you’re not going the right way at all. The pricing here seems to be quite good costing 3.78 euros for 2 coffee yogurts, milk and 6 bottles of water. The receipt is confusing for me, as it is written in italian and that I have been charged an unusual«Shopper Marterbi», I understand it is only 8 cents, but it has appeared on my receipt for both of my visits here, and I do like to know what I’m paying here! The range of products here seems good, and so does most of the pricing, although I do find it confusing. For example they is 2 prices, one in big and one in small lettering, and especially on items where you will get more than one such as beer, it can be confusing whether you are paying that for 1 or the full amount of bottles, and especially for tourists, it would be fantastic if they made pricing clearer, especially because the language barrier can make it tricky. In my opinion making pricing easier to understand will also be better for business; this will help people buy other products, instead of being put off(like I was) They is a small car park next to the store, which looks to me like an old fashioned garage, but in a building, however this isn’t the nicest of places to park with people hanging around there and playing music very loudly(It was like that when I visited) and simply it not being worth traveling a huge distance for, as although the store is a good size, it isn’t huge and is probably only slightly bigger than a Tesco Express store in Britain. They was a few things unpleasant about this store, for example: The strong smells around the cheese and meat counter(especially the cheese due to it being extremely strong — strong to the point that it nearly knocked me sick) and this is one of the main reasons for the lower rating than what I’d have liked to give, as well as issues with the car park, and the pricing issues which put alongside the language barrier can make it hard to fix.
